Daniel Timmerman

Daniel L. Timmerman was born Sept. 21, 1949, in Lorenz, Iowa, to Clem and Thelma (Pudenz) Timmerman. As a young child, he moved with his family to a farm outside of St. Charles. Dan graduated from St. Charles High School in 1967. He then attended Winona Tech, earning a degree in accounting. After spending some time in Wisconsin, Dan returned to Rochester and worked as an accountant for Foster Electric Company for 33 years, until his early retirement due to Lewy Body Dementia. He died peacefully in his sleep on May 19, 2017.

In 1976, he married Janet M. Jones at the Church of St. Francis in Rochester. They remained in Rochester and raised four children.

Dan loved gardening, planting flowers and keeping the yard looking great. His kids often teased him about "getting down on his knees and manicuring his grass." He was an avid Twins fan and rarely missed a televised game. He also enjoyed trips to Treasure Island Casino. He not only liked the slots, but also loved to "people watch" and could carry on a conversation with anyone.

Dan is survived by his loving wife, Jan; as well as his four children, David (Lori), Sarah, John (Melissa) - all of Rochester and Paul (Jenny) of Rosemount, Minn. He is also survived by seven grandsons, Ben, Zach, Caleb, Nick, Darren, Joe and Jacob; along with five sisters and one brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law, two nephews and one niece.

We would like to thank all of the wonderful people from Mayo Clinic, Mayo Clinic Hospice and Respite Care at St. Marys Campus. From nursing, to social work, to spiritual care, the love and support all of you gave to Dan helped him find peace and remain comfortable. A special thank you to Dr. Juan Bowen and Dan's PCAs Karla and Jean.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday May 26, at the Church of St. Pius X, with the Rev. Michael Cronin presiding. Dan's body was donated to Mayo Clinic.
