Daniel Toomey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 5, 2017.
Dan Toomey died peacefully at home in Burlingame, Calif., following a courageous battle with cancer on Feb. 24, 2017. He was 68.

He was born to the late Tom and Jennie Toomey on July 20, 1948, in Scranton, Pa. Dan was a 1966 graduate of Dunmore High School. After graduating high school, he served in the Army as a Military Police soldier during the Vietnam war.

After returning home from his military service, he moved to New York City, and later to the San Francisco, Calif., district, where he remained working for many years as a commercial real estate manager.

Dan enjoyed his furry friends, traveling and playing poker. He was a kind, loving person who put everyone's needs above his own. He could be counted on always, whether you needed simple advice, an empathetic ear or a shoulder to lean on. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean, Burlingame; sister, Peggy and husband, Andy Wascura, Eynon; nieces, Kimberly Rodriguez, Scranton; and Jennifer Wascura, Peckville; other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy.

Interment of cremations of Dan was done by Colma Cremation and Funeral Services, Colma, Calif. A private memorial service will be held by the family. Online condolence can be made to [email protected].
