Danny Hicks Obituary
Danny grew up in West Virginia where he graduated from DuPont High School, Class of 1981. Shortly following, he met the love of his life and wife of 35 years, Paula, and together they welcomed their beloved daughter, Hailee. Despite moving to NC in the early 90s, Danny continued to carry his West Virginia pride, being an adamant Mountaineers fan and always sporting his home colors, navy and gold (unless the Tarheels were playing, in which case he would swear his NC team was going to "win it all").
Danny was a dedicated employee of American Wick Drain for 23 years. He adored his work family and found it difficult to take a day off. Unless, of course, he was headed to his favorite place, the beach, where he planned to retire one day. If Danny was not at work or the beach, he was spending time with his only beloved grandson, Dayton Ryder Hendrix, whom he affectionately dubbed "Slim" or "Lil Man", as well as his 4 fur babies, Sophie, Bruiser, Bentley, and Marley. Not a morning passed without a wake up call to Hailee and a "Good morning, Slim" to Dayton.
In addition to Paula, Hailee, and Dayton, Danny is survived by brother, Billy Hicks, and sisters, Georgia Shinault and Lola Hendricks of West Virginia, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. The ultimate family man, he will be remembered for the endless laughs, his infectious smile, and the steadfast love he provided for the years we were honored to have him with us. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life ceremony on May 26th at 6:30pm at Dixie Dreams (7188 Santa Claus Road Monroe, NC 28110). Dinner will be provided immediately following the ceremony.

I have known Danny and his family all my life and we grew up in the same little town. Danny was always a very nice person and it's very sad to see him go now. He has his wings now. Prayers for the family.

Paula and Hailee, I'm so sad to hear of the passing of Danny. I have many good memories of you all as my neighbors. Danny would help me when I had a crisis at my house I couldn't deal with alone. I'll always remember his kindness and sweet smile. Prayers, love and hugs to your family. Danny was a great man and will be missed.
