Danny Gung Shen Liu

Danny Gung Shen Liu, age 75, of Niles, IL passed away suddenly, but peacefully while on vacation in Phuket, Thailand on November 22, 2023. He was born on April 17th, 1948 in Kobe, Japan.

Danny was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished spending time with his family and had a passion for playing golf. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Lily, his children, Jennifer and Derek, his granddaughters, Aruna and Veera, his sister, Lily, and his daughter-in-law, Gayatri.

Danny had a successful career as a manager at various restaurants, including Pekin House Restaurant, Far East Restaurant, Old Country Buffet, and Flat Top Grill. He was known for his dedication and hard work.

Danny attended Pierce Elementary for his primary education and later graduated from Senn High School. He excelled in sports and won state titles in speed skating.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 11am to 2:00pm at the Midwest Buddhist Temple, located at 435 W. Menomonee Street, Chicago, IL 60614. The service will be followed by lunch at the temple.

Danny Gung Shen Liu is survived by his loving wife, Lily W. Liu; his children, Jennifer Liu and Derek Liu; his granddaughters, Aruna Liu and Veera Liu; his sister, Lily Liu; and his daughter-in-law, Gayatri Menon Liu. He was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Liu; his father, Eugene Liu; and his brother, Thomas Liu.
