To all Uncle Ute's family,

You all have my deepest and heartfelt sympathy in the death of Uncle Ute. Daddy died when he was only 59, so how wonderful to have had your Dad for so many years, and, for the most part, in such good health! I have such fond memories of Uncle Ute: I can still see him hoeing the rows and rows of dirt in the garden. Wasn't that only yesterday? Several years ago, my friend, Bernadette Denny, came to Mama's with me and Uncle Ute came right over with two huge bags full of fresh "beautiful" vegetables. After seeing that I had a friend with me, he came right back with two bags for her. She still talks about that. Another time after visiting Aunt Lydia and Aunt Eldie, I stopped for "just a minute" to visit Uncle Ute before I headed home to Baton Rouge for a 3:30 appointment...I was in a hurry. He was actually taking a nap on the back porch and awakened as I walked up to him. He asked if I had eaten lunch. I told him that Aunt Eldie had offered me lunch, as usual, but that I had told her that I would quickly grab a hamburger on my way home so I could make my "appointment". Well, he went inside, came out with a hugh plate of crawfish and rice and said, "You are going to sit on this porch and eat this. I crawfished this morning so this is really fresh." Oh my gosh! Best crawfish stew I ever ate!!! We sat on that back porch, the two of us, one on one, and talked about anything and everything. He made me laugh until I hurt. Finally he asked, Isn't your appointment at 3:30? I replied "yes". He yelled, It is 4:00!!!!!!!!!!! We laughed some more. I hope that he enjoyed that visit half as much as I did. I loved you, Uncle Ute.
Rest in Peace..................
