EDDYVILLE -- Daphne Sharon Standish, 62, departed this life Thursday, June 15, 2006, at home.

She was the daughter of Harry Reginald "Regg" Holloway and Thelma Pearl (Randolph) Holloway, and was born Nov. 9, 1943, in Batesville, Ind.

Sharon was united in marriage to Tom Standish on July 31, 1981, in Aurora, Colo.

In addition to her husband, Sharon is survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.

Sharon had worked as a secretary and receptionist. She had most recently served as the assistant to the dean at California State University- San Marcos.

Sharon was an accomplished violist and classical pianist. She had formerly played with a local symphony in Littleton, Colo., and was instrumental in the formation of the Columbine Orchestra. Sharon was a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, a professional women's music sorority.

Sharon was a gifted artisan. She enjoyed tole painting and flower arranging. Sharon also enjoyed gardening.

During the early 1980s, Sharon, along with her husband Tom, lived in Saudi Arabia. She enjoyed the unique culture and lifestyle of that country.

Sharon will be fondly remembered for her gentle, caring spirit.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Sulphur Springs Church near Eddyville. Burial will be in Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 3000 Kelly Lane, Springfield, IL 62707.
