Darius Lee Robinson

Darius Lee Robinson was born on February 10, 1952, in Warrenton, North Carolina to Howard E. Robinson and Corleen D. Robinson. At an early age, Darius confessed to Christ and joined the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member until his health began to fail.

During his early years, Darius worked on his family’s farm and was educated in North Carolina and Virginia where he graduated from Park View High School in Mecklenburg County in 1970. He worked many jobs before deciding on a career in the Mecklenburg County Department of Corrections. He worked there for 25 years retiring as a sergeant at the age of 50.

Darius had a passion and personality for helping others. This passion kept him in the service field. Following his retirement, he continued to serve his community working within the Mecklenburg County School system as a bus driver, substitute teacher, and mentor. Later in life Darius answered God’s calling and completed his theology degree at Shaw University School of Divinity. He performed his initial sermon here, at his home church, Pleasant Hill Baptist on November 19, 2006.

On June 17, 1972, Darius was united in Holy matrimony to his school sweetheart, Mae Minor and unto this union three children were born. 

Darius departed this life on December 11, 2022 with his loving and devoted wife by his bedside.

Predeceased by his parents, he leaves to cherish his memory, wife Mae Robinson, son Daryl Kenric Robinson (Tina) all of Bracey, VA, daughters Shandra Robinson-Harris (Marvin) of South Hill, VA, Darius Robinson-Jefferys (Jonathan) of Youngsville, NC, five grandchildren Morgan T. Robinson, Kimoni R. Mitchell, Aaron D. Harris, Alyssa I. Jefferys, Xavier L. Jefferys; three sisters, Geraldine Robinson, Arlene Burwell, and Shirley Flood; two brothers, William Robinson (Yvonne) and Clifton Robinson; one aunt, Minnie Smith (Edward); two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Minor and Annie Minor; a brother-in-law, Thomas Minor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Friday, December 16, 2022 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 606 Peete Farm Road, Warrenton, NC.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  Viewing will be from 12 noon until 4 pm, Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
