Darlene M Chaput

On June 29, 2025, Darlene Chaput of Worcester, MA was welcomed into heaven by angels. After a brief illness, she passed away peacefully at her home in Hopedale surrounded by her brother, Joe and sister-in-law, Diane.

Darlene lived life to the fullest and spent most of her life in Worcester where she lovingly cared for her parents, Romeo and Veronica Chaput, now deceased. When she wasn't taking care of them, she was waiting tables at various local restaurants including the Ding Ho, Emerald Isle, Riley's, and the Donut Cafe. She had many friends that she loved spending time with, and would meet up with them after work to share laughter and wine. She was incredibly charitable and loved to volunteer at various churches in the Kelly Square section of Worcester. In a nutshell, Darlene would give anyone her last dollar if they were in need.

Family was always such an integral part of Darlene's life and she often liked to say she was "the favorite" auntie. She loved her nieces and nephews and always enjoyed spending time with them. She especially loved going to her grand-nephew Stephen's championship football games at Gillette Stadium, and she also shared a special bond with her grand-nephew, DJ who was never shy about telling Auntie how much he loved her. A week before she passed, one of her favorite nights was spent reminiscing about all of her family and friends. That night, she talked for four straight hours, sharing stories, photos and many laughs-something her family will treasure forever.

Darlene leaves behind Joe and Diane Chaput of Hopedale, and their children: Danielle Barbosa and husband Alex, and sons Alex Jr. and Stephen Simpson Jr. of West Boylston; Nicole Chaput and son DJ of Worcester; Justin Coffey and his fiancee, Aimee Derouin, of Johnston, RI. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Cindy Mulcahy Chaput of Worcester, and is survived by her sister Sandra Dick and son, Michael Dick, of Worcester; Bryan Dick and his wife, Samantha and son Easton, of Auburn; and her beloved nephew Jason Chaput and his husband Mark Hogains of San Francisco, CA. She also leaves behind her extended family, the Greco's and Marrazzo's, of Newton, and her favorite dog, Zappa, who brought her so much joy the last couple of years.

The Chaput family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Milford Regional Medical Center and the nurses at Gentiva Hospice for their excellent care, compassion, and kindness during such a difficult time.

Darlene requested no services, just a scattering of her ashes at a private location with close family. Donations may be made in Darlene's memory to one of her favorite charities: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, ASPCA, Wounded Warrior Project.
