was born in Auburn, the daughter of the late Earl J. and Evelyn Applegate Dean and resided here most of her life. She was a graduate of East High School class of 1940 and employed as the manager of Daw's Drugstore later becoming Rite Aid Drugstore from 1958 until she retired in 1973. In her later years she enjoyed working for Cosentino's Florist and The Foley Florist here in Auburn.
Surviving are her children:
Gary and Marcia Finch of Union Springs, Wayne and Jeanne Finch of Auburn, David and Jennifer Finch of Springhill, FL, Kevin Dean Finch of Plantation, FL; 11 grandchildren: Gregory Finch, Amy Finch, Stephen Finch, Mark Finch, Laurie McGough, Christopher Finch, Shannon Finch, Laura Finch, Jennifer Finch, James Finch and Scott McVeen; 17 great-grandchildren; also her dear friends at Stryker Homes.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy is predeceased by her first husband, Donald P. Finch and her second husband, Harry Smolak.
Friends are invited to call at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South Street, Auburn, NY from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2013.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 10 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Church, 85 East Genesee Street, Auburn, NY with the Reverend Louis A. Vasile, officiating. Interment will be in Saint Joseph's Cemetery, Auburn, NY.
