Darrel Lynn Brewer BRISTOL, Va. Darrel Lynn Brewer, 55, went peacefully to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 3, 1957, to the late William H. "Bill" and Clara Fay Brewer. Darrel spent his life traveling and singing southern gospel music throughout the south. He attended Heavenly Rest Freewill Baptist Church where he taught the Adult Sunday School class for many years. He was employed by Strongwell as a tool and die machinist with 15 years of service. Survivors include his loving wife of 17 years, Maggie Miller Brewer; son, Travis Miller and wife, Kristy; special grandson, Cody "Bugg" Miller; brothers, Kenny Brewer and wife, Charlene, and Roger Brewer; sisters, Tammy Myers and Pat Spears and husband, Mark; two special aunts, Minnie Miller and Virginia Eldreth; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, from the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Charlie Harmon, Brother Dewey Brown, and Brother Michael Roark officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon, Va. Pallbearers will be Chad Brewer, Blake Brewer, Kevin Myers, Darren Miller, Steve Miller, Matt Miller, Bobby Norris and James Harmon. Honorary pallbearers will be David Miller, Ronnie Norris and men of Heavenly Rest Freewill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Weaver Funeral Home. The family would like to say a special thanks to the second floor staff at Bristol Regional Medical Center and Wellmont Hospice for their services and loving care. Maggie, We will always remember Darrel and you as you were a true inspiration to us and our lives. I am so happy that I have all the CD's and can still listen to Darrel's wonderful voice and one day I hope to stroll over Heaven with him, Bill, Fay, my family and all our dear friends.
