Darvin Appell

APPELL, Darvin Darvin passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the age of 56 years. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Mary Appel; brother, Edward and mother-in-law, Nance Rafuse. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Josh; the mother of his son, Susan; brothers and sisters, Irene (Walter) Baumgartner, Rosemarie (Alfred) Hoedel, Joseph, Eva (Nick) Yoner, Hilda Walsh (Stan), Arnold (Linda) and Mervin (Ingrid); sisters-in-law, Caroline (Norman) Dean and Margaret Appell; father-in-law, Doug Rafuse; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob (Sandra), Ann, Will (Kim) and Dave; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Darvin was a proud and loving father who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a talented musician and spent many years playing with the band, Skatt as lead singer, rhythm guitarist and keyboards. Darvin was always an entertainer whether playing at countless functions or hosting a party in his home. He loved good food, cooking, camping, watching baseball and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Darvin was a skilled journeyman carpenter which he enjoyed until his health deteriorated. He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 15 years ago and faced his disability with great courage. A special thank you to his sisters, Hilda and Eva, brother, Joe and niece, Maureen for their love, care and support given to Darvin. Thank you to Judy for her friendship and spiritual support and to the Homecare staff, especially Cindy and Danielle for providing excellent care over the past several years. Darvin's family would also like to thank the staff at the Regina General Hospital SICU Unit for their support and compassion during his last days. Darvin's wish of organ donation was granted. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at the Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Darvin's memory may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, 150 Albert Street, Regina, SK S4R 2N2 or to the Regina General Hospital, SICU, 1440 14th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 0W5.
