Dave Reardon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 9, 2021.
Dave Reardon, longtime owner of Shillings on the Square in Marietta, has died. He was 75.

Reardon, whose landmark restaurant and gathering place closed in 2019 after 41 years, died March 6, 2021 of natural causes at his home. He is survived by his wife Carol, a sister, Sheila McNamara, four nieces and five nephews. A celebration of life is planned.

A Massachusetts native, Reardon opened Shillings in 1978 after years working as a manager with the Crowley's restaurant group in metro Atlanta. Housed in an old hardware store from which the restaurant took its name, Shillings quickly became a part of the heartbeat of downtown Marietta, a neighborhood restaurant that, for many patrons, served as an extension of their own families.

I only met Dave & Carol a few times at Copeland’s but we hit it off seeing we were from Massachusetts. He was just a great friendly, out going person. He will be truly missed.
