David Fletcher Aylor, Esq., 41, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Monday, January 2, 2023. His funeral service will be held Sunday, January 8, 2023 in Seacoast Church, 750 Long Point Rd, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Rd, Mt. Pleasant SC, 29464. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 7, 2023 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC 29401 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
David was born January 6, 1981 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, son of Lawrence “Pete” Keith Aylor and Jean Fletcher Aylor.
He was a graduate of the College of Charleston and the University of South Carolina School of Law. He clerked for the SC Senate Judiciary Committee under Senator Glenn McConnell, for U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert S. Carr, as well as attorney Andrew J. Savage III in Charleston. David then began his legal career serving as an Assistant Solicitor in the Ninth Circuit Solicitor's Office for Charleston County.
In 2009, David founded his law firm, David Aylor Law Offices, which he grew over the years to a team of 22 staff members and six locations around the state of South Carolina. Through this firm, he and his staff of attorneys served over 10,000 clients in the Lowcountry of South Carolina and beyond. From his love of motorcycles, David also established Riders Law Group to provide representation for injured motorcyclists.
Most recently, he celebrated the opening of his new office building, which he referred to as the “Miracle Building”. One of his proudest features of the building was that he was able to name the third floor entertainment space “Fletcher’s”, after his son.
In the courtroom, David was known as a well-respected trial attorney. Two of his trials were featured in Dateline NBC episodes, and his high-profile casework has been covered in countless other media outlets at the local and national level. David was a regular guest on radio and TV news stations, where he provided insight into current legal issues, as well as offered free legal advice to callers live on the air.
Outside of running his law practice, David taught Criminal Justice as an adjunct professor at College of Charleston and Trident Technical College, and was appointed acting Prosecutor for the City of Hanahan. For the past couple of years, once a month, David ate lunch with a student from Hanahan Elementary School as a lunch buddy.
David also had a passion for helping others and giving back to the community. He volunteered with and supported many organizations including, but not limited to, Going Places, Communities In Schools of South Carolina, Be a Mentor, Charleston Animal Society, Charleston Hispanic Association, Boy Scouts of America, Birthdays For All, Push-Up & Up, Toys for Tots, and so many more.
Along with his parents, David is survived by his two brothers: John William Aylor (Lea) and Andrew "Drew" Lawrence Aylor; son, Fletcher Jacob Aylor; and a niece, Aria Marie Aylor.
Memorials may be made to Be a Mentor, 701 E. Bay Street, Suite 121, Charleston, SC 29403 and Communities In Schools of South Carolina, c/o Jennifer Harris, 1691 Turnbull Avenue, Suite 200, N. Charleston, SC 29405.

I would like to take this opportunity to say how sorry I am for the passing of David. He was an incredible young man, who was polite and professional. I met him many years ago when he handled my wife's divorce and we became friendly way back then. Over the years we spoke from time to time. I am not a lawyer but I am in the legal profession and David was kind enough to send me customers when he could. I cannot properly express in words how much I thought of him and respected him as an individual and also a lawyer. I will miss him dearly.

Thanks so much David for all you did for the black community. You never saw color or creed. You went into the depths of the community where the other prominent lawyers would never go! You spared so many from the crooked "justice" system and made sure everyone black...white...or purple..feel important and serviceable! I hope all the other lawyers take a good look at you and see what a true servant of the people should be !!!! You are not gone because legends live forever!!! No RIP !! You are still living on !

The John Scott family send much sympathy and prayers for the family. We were neighbors of the Aylors for alot of years in Spartanburg, SC. We had many fun visits standing in Wake Robin Cir. as our children played around. We swam at the same community pool. Man, what memories we made. So proud of the accomplishments of David-fine man from a fine family. RIP, David.

Dearest friends, we are heartbroken to hear of David's death! I will always remember the sweet little guy he was when all our boys were young. And I remember how impressed Bob and I were to see him on national television a few years ago--he was obviously so good at his chosen profession. Rob, Andrew, and I are holding you in our hearts and in our prayers, asking the Holy Spirit to comfort and sustain you in these difficult days. Much, much love to you both, and to Drew, John, and Fletcher.

For David´s family, I am so sorry to hear this, and so sorry for your loss. I met David years ago when I retained him to help me get out of a speeding ticket. He was so personable, and genuine. He later did some other legal work for me in the family court. He met me for lunch one day, and even came to my home one afternoon to go through documents. He went the extra mile to accommodate his clients. I am sad to hear this, and very sad for his family. May he Rest In Peace.

I was so hurt to hear that David passed. I worked for David and I can honestly say he made his firm work environment feel like family. David treated his employees like family. He opened his home up to us and hosted dinners, cook outs and other events. During the holidays he took care of his employees and made sure he put a smile on our faces. I'll miss his smile and him giving me a big hug every time he saw me. David you were an amazing person and passionate about your criminal career. Your jokes and the way you made others laugh was like no other. This all still seems like a dream. Rest David! -Nakeia Pinckney-Holmes

He was kind enough to bless our church youth with tickets to a Stingrays game and a book for our kid's club. He was so good to his community. This is a big loss for Charleston. We are praying for his family and friends. It is so hard on the people left behind when our Father calls us home. Blessing to you all.

Cynthia and I were saddened to learn of David's passing. Although we haven't seen David or the family in many years, we retain fond memories of them from our (and their) younger days. There's nothing worse than losing a child, and we can only imagine the profound sadness that Pete, Jean and other family members are experiencing. Our prayers go out to them.
