David Gene Blanton, 66, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away on January 23, 2024. He was born on September 17, 1957, and lived in Shelby, North Carolina. David was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

David is survived by his children: Mandi Abernethy and her husband Cole Abernethy, Matthew Blanton and his wife Leah Blanton, and Christin Blanton. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren: Nic Rich, Bailey Bridges, Haven Abernethy, Payton Gaddy, Mattie Grace Abernethy, Brock Abernethy, Kane Gaddy, Mia Brooke Blanton, Sadie Rose Abernethy, and Maverick Jett Blanton. In addition, David is survived by his sisters, Elaine Champion and Marsha Cassidy, as well as his nieces, Rebecca Johnson and family, and Gena Pomeroy and family.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Gene "Lefty" Blanton and Joann Cash Blanton, and his niece, Nicole Kennedy.

After his retirement, David worked part-time at Clearhome Storage. He had a strong work ethic and was dedicated to his job.

David's hobbies included spending time with his children and grandchildren, and golfing. He cherished the moments he shared with his loved ones and always made sure to create memorable experiences.

David was a member of Pleasant City Church in Shelby, North Carolina, where he served as a Greeter. He found solace and community in his place of worship.

A memorial service to honor David's life will be held at Pleasant City Church in Shelby, NC on January 27th at 1pm. Following the service, the family will have receiving of friends and are invited to join in a time of remembrance and support and inviting everyone to attend.

I have known David since we were boys. We became friends in the Boy Scout

Troop, that the Dover Mill Viiage Community had and at Church. David was
very likeable. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

I first met David when I started working at ClearHome Self Storage and he and I always had great conversations and he would tell me about his grand babies and what all he would do with them. He will truly be missed. David I will always remember you and our laughs and conversations at work.
