I was thinking of old friends from my days in the Marines and I googled Nick. I am saddened to find that he has passed. I was a young Lance Corporal when I first arrived at 2nd Maintenance Battalion at Camp Lejeune but Nick welcomed me into the group and was someone I respected and admired. His smile lit up a room and he was the life of the party type. Deepest condolences to Nick's family and especially his daughters.
Semper Fi Nick!

Jessica,
Your father was a great person! I know him a very long time ago. He was my BEST friend! Over the years, we lost contact. I still love him to this day. Your Grandfather found a way to find me. He came across some pictures when they lived in SC. He was such a good person and a good friend to me. You should to be very proud to have a him as your Father! He is very much missed!
With such sadness,
Rick
PS,
I am the one on the right.

I met Nick in the Marine Corps in 29 Palms. He was good friends with, and in the same class as my room mate, Mike S. Later, I crashed one weekend in their barracks room at Camp Kinser on Okinawa. I am saddened to just found out today, Christmas Day, through Mike's Facebook page that we lost Nick in 2007. Even though our interaction was fairly limited because of him being a few classes ahead of me, he was one of those people that stand out in your mind, no matter how briefly you know them. My (belated) condolences to Nick's family. Brief as it was, it was a pleasure to have known you, Nick. Semper Fidelis, brother..!

Though I only knew my father for eight years before his passing, he was my inspiration, my protector, and my greatest friend all wrapped up in a box labeled dad. he was an amazing person, with the best sense of what's right and what's wrong I've ever seen. When he got home from work every night, I loved to see his face light up like a candle whe he saw his family. He always stayed positive in the hospital room and not one complaint left his lips. I love you dad.

My deepest sympathy to the family. I remember Nick growing up as I was often over at their house as a friend of Jay's. He was a wonderful brother to Jay, and was always kind to me. I was proud to call him a friend, even if he scared me a little. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a great moral compass given to him by Kay and Dave. I hate that I have lost touch with the family over the years, but my fondest wishes to his girls and family. You will be in my prayers and thoughts often. The Beach isnt the same without all of you guys. Love you all.

Nick was a good friend. We served together in the Corps. He had a glowing personality, a contagious laugh, and a big heart. I miss Nick.
My fondest memory of Nick was of a drive to his parent’s house in South Carolina. He put a tape in the deck featuring a guy by the name of Tony Campolo, a Baptist preacher. Raised a Catholic, I’d never heard anything like it. Tony was energetic, down-to-earth, and had a passion for Christ.
Listening to those tapes and talking with Nick helped me to understand that Christ truly loves me – enough to die for my sins. We listened and talked about how we could live more Christ like lives. Really living for Christ – not just in Church. It was a great drive. Nick was a great friend.
It’s Friday, and I miss Nick. I learned about his passing a few weeks ago and have had a hard time not thinking about how much I miss our conversations, particularly that one on the drive to South Carolina. I regret that I allowed the distractions of this world to keep me from coming to visit him and his family. I am sorry that I missed the chance to enjoy his fellowship one more time and to tell his daughters what a tremendous influence Nick had on my life. I wish that I could wind back time so we talk just once more about how the Lord works in our lives - just one more time.
It’s Friday, and I miss Nick. He was a good man, a good Marine, and a good friend. But Sunday’s coming. I look forward to seeing you again soon, brother.

I am so sad to hear of Nick's passing. His girls and family are in our prayers. I have not seen Nick since we were in high school together, but I remember him as being a very nice guy and fun to hang around with. Life is too short, but we were all blessed for having known him while he was with us.

I did not know Nick in his earlier, more carefree and fun filled years. Unfortunately for me, I only heard about this side of him at his funeral. I wish that I could have know him then. I knew him during his darker times. However, this does not diminish the character of the man I knew. Nick was an amazing person. He suffered through some very tough times and a lot of very difficult circumstances. I saw him struggle with personal issues, job issues, and health issues. Yet through it all, I never heard him complain or play the "woe is me" card. Nick was always up for moving forward and trying to make things better. He would do whatever he had to. Nick had a strong and very real and alive faith. He spoke a lot about his relationship with God and how he was seeking God's direction and his will. The bravery and the positive attitude with which he approached his cancer made a lasting impression on me. I visited him several times during his illness. Everytime, I met a man who was at peace. He accepted his situation and worked hard at fighting the battle. His children were the light of his life. I knew Nick as a righteous man seeking God's will. I miss him.
