David Eugene Bostian, Sr., departed to be with his Savior on November 7, 2021, after an extended illness. He was born of February 28, 1930, in Hamlet, NC, the son of the late Frederick and Eula Mae Currie Bostian.
David served in the United States Marine Corps from 1948 thru 1952. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his service, he played Marine Football and played the trumpet in the Marine Band. In Wilmington, NC, he was a member of the American Legion and most recently Post 10.
David was employed by Southern Bell Telephone Company and before retirement, he worked the last 17 years as Installation/Maintenance Manager at Bellsouth Telephone Company in Wilmington, NC. He retired in 1991 after 38 years of service.
He was a member of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church of Wilmington, NC.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents and wife, Joan Selph Bostian; brother Charles M. Bostian; sister Mary Ruth Bostian Weil; sister Gloria Bostian Greenwood; and son David Eugene Bostian, Jr. and stepson Stephen Phillip Diggs.
Surviving is his daughter, Joan Victoria Bostian Green (Tom), Stepchildren Keith T. Diggs (Libby), Robert A. Diggs (Rhonda); grandchildren Meghan (Ritch); David III; Jonathan (Amy); Jennifer (Tommy); Carey (Aubrey); Amanda (Pete); Robert Jr.; Great-grandchildren: Jasper, Evelyn, Andrew, Sharon and Ario.
A memorial service was held on December 4, 2021, at the Mary Love Cemetery in Hamlet, NC, with a small group of family members and friends
In lieu of flowers, contributions/donations can be made to the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church of Wilmington, NC
The family would like to thank all at Trinity Gove Lutheran Home in Wilmington, NC, for their support and kindness to David
