David Brochu Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 21 to Apr. 22, 2023.
Sadly and suddenly, David Todd Brochu, age 58, of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, left this world much too soon on April 17th 2023.

David was born In Dover-Foxcroft, Maine but moved with his family to Saratoga Springs, NY; White Haven and Freeland Pennsylvania before finally settling in his home state of Maine. He lived in the Old Orchard Beach area of Maine for the majority of his adult life. Regardless of where he lived as a child, he spent his childhood summers on the Penobscot Bay at his grandparent's cottage with his family. Those were great memories and where David got his love of the ocean. David graduated from Searsport High School, Class of 1983, and spent a brief stint in the US Army. He became employed as a roofer in The Portland/Old Orchard Beach, Maine area and stayed in roofing until the day he died.

David was tall, dark, and handsome but shy and quiet and preferred to hang in the background. He loved riding his bicycle around Old Orchard Beach for transportation for many years. He enjoyed fishing, kayaking, card games, darts, outdoor grilling and small gatherings with friends and family and tipping back some cold ones. He was always open to trying out a new game at family reunions and always brought his own special humor. He owned an iguana for years which he actually allowed to sleep in his bed!

Recently he was enamored with his classic El Camino and enjoyed tinkering with it during his free time. David was loved by many yet, he never really fathomed how special he was to all of us. He was a dedicated Dad to his adult son. He was the best baby brother to his closest siblings, Maria and Bobby. He will be dearly missed.

David was predeceased by his parents: Pat (Hinton) Brochu and Robert W. Brochu Ist, and two older half-brothers; Randall Chase and Bruce Chase. He is survived by his son, David Brochu of Borger, Texas and several grandchildren. He is survived by half-sister, Susan Chase of Bangor, Maine and half-sister Summer Brochu of Spartanburg, South Carolina; his sister, Maria Louise Brochu of Dover-Foxcroft, Maine and his brother Robert Winslow Brochu II of Casco, Maine. David is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews and will be especially missed by his nephew Rob Brochu III.

There will be no formal services but his family will celebrate his life at a private gathering in May. Sweet David, may you rest in peace.

It will be a year this Wednesday that you left us. I think of you often and smile about all the good times we had as children and adults. I am so glad you came to visit me in Waco that one December---we had such a nice visit and sister-brother time. A vital piece of our siblinghood is gone with you. We miss you so much and especially with our Memorial Day Weekend get-together coming up...I'm planting flowers in your memory so you will always be with us in spirit and through nature. I love you, David

Davy Brochu. For the past 35 years plus that we have been friends, coworkers and family you have been an important part of our lives. Animal lover, all round funny guy and quite the man with the dance moves. We will love you and miss you forever.

I was so saddened to hear of Davey's passing - the world has lost a gentle soul and heaven has gained a true angel. I have known Davey since the early 1980's - I met him through my sister and brother-in-law back in the Bangor Roofing days and we affectionately called him "Davey". I always had a great big hug for him when I would see him, and he always had a smile for me that would truly light up the Eastern Seaboard. We loved to swap stories over a cold bottle of beer and he always had a purring cat in his lap at my sister's house. I moved away from Maine for several years, and was always happy to see Davey when I came back for a visit. We would always pick up right where we left off, as if it were yesterday. He was undoubtedly one of the sweetest people I have had the pleasure of knowing! We will draw on our countless memories we have amassed over 40+ years and speak of Davey often. He will remain alive in our hearts forever. Sending heartfelt condolences to the family and Davey's friends.

I'm so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. We shared many laughs and many cold beverages. He had a grin and a smile that would make you laugh just trying to have a conversation. You are truly missed and may you rest in peace my friend.

David, I met you when we were so young, we always ended up in the same area for awhile. I'm glad we got to talk for awhile, it's sad we could not catch up more, hope your happy and I will remember the fun times we had as kids, Rest Easy. Lisa

I'm so fortunate that this past year, after moving to Maine, I was able to spend time with my baby brother more frequently than an annual visit and I treasured every second.
David we loved you so and our family gatherings will never be the same without you. I know that you are without any pain or worries now. Still, I want you to be here with us! And you will always be in our hearts and memories. PS I'm sorry I said you were adopted ;) I guess you didn't find it amusing. My bad...Love you David!
