David BUHLER Obituary

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix from Feb. 21 to Feb. 22, 2017.
David Buhler
July 14, 1933 - February 18, 2017
After 83 blessed years, our Heavenly Father called our Dad, Rev. David Buhler home. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy, his loving wife Tina of over 61 years; son Garry David (Alice), daughter Diane (Dave Greenhorn), 6 grandchildren, Garry David, Melanie (Dustin Maffin), Timothy, Jennifer (Kevin Weber), Aimee and Daisy; 4 great-grandchildren, McKenna, Irelynn, Olivia and Cohen David. He shared fond memories with his parents, brothers Abe (Eva), George (Anna), and William (Agnes) and sisters Nettie, Betty and Ann. On October 9, 1955 he married the love of his life Tina Schellenberg. We have many fond memories of travelling and camping in the mountains. Our Dad spent over 40 years working at Palm Dairies and CO-OP Creameries. In 1968, our parents felt the Lord calling them to be the first caregivers at the Warman Altenheim. They spent 2 years providing love and care to the residents there. On November 29, 1968, God handpicked our parents to become Disciples for him. They faithfully spent over 40 years serving him. We will never know how many people they blessed through their service. My parents, along with Corney and Ann Derksen, founded the 1st Annual Food Grains Bank Auction which has raised over millions of dollars over the past 35 years. He felt privileged to travel with them to India and Bangladesh. In retirement, they enjoyed travelling and got to see many of God's creations. The Schellenberg family were also a big part of their lives. Thank you to the staff and residents of Central Haven Lodge for caring for our dad as if he was their own, and also the care and compassion they showed our mom. Please join us for a Celebration of dad's life. A viewing will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Bethany Manor, 110 La Ronge Road, Saskatoon. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethany Manor, 110 La Ronge Road, Saskatoon. Joining Dad in heaven are his parents, his daughter Kathleen and brother Jacob. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sask. Valley Food Grains Bank, PO Box 767, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2L4. Thank you to Stefan, Uncle George and Dalmeny Funeral Home for arranging our Dad's celebration of life.

Good memories of your enthusiasm and care for the people in the community over the many years.
I've thought & prayed for you often.missed seeing you ,since my move to B.C.
Life is like a vapour, appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
Sincere condolences.

I remember fond memories of helping uncle Dave with his home milk deliveries in the early 60's and the camping our families did together. He was a great man who is greatly missed.

Aunt Tina, Garry and Diane, we are sad for your loss. I remember being quite young and able to understand Uncle David's German message about Jesus as the Good Shepherd, delivered in a gentle tone. We pray you receive God's special care and comfort through this time.

Dear Diane and family,
You spoke of your father fondly and with appreciation. Your own welcoming and kindness to all must have been the example he provided. In making the world a better place every day he had good reason to share his family with all he met. With sympathy,

Tina and Family:
We were sorry to learn of David's death. He was a long time good friend who will be missed by many who knew him. We will always remember him from our childhood days as a very caring person.

Unfortunately, because we are away for the winter, we will not be able to attend the services, but our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
