David Carisch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 21, 2016.
Professor David Robert Carisch, 74, passed away peacefully in his home amongst friends and family on Saturday morning, Jan. 16, at 9:55 a.m.

David was born March 2, 1941, in River Falls, Wis., to Charlotte and Christian Behlmer Carisch. He had two brothers, Chuck and Chris, and a sister, Suzanne.

After graduating high school in River Falls and then graduating college from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, David went on to spend six years in the Peace Corps in Ghana, Africa, teaching biology, before marrying and coming to Rochester to teach and raise a family.

David was a very well-known teacher in Rochester for more than 40 years at Rochester Community and Technical College and at Mayo Clinic in the anatomy and nursing program. He was also a devoted member of the Elks Club for more than 30 years, and a local small business owner after retirement.

David is preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Conny, who passed away in 1997. David is survived by three sons, Jonathan, 41, Nathan (Cara), 37, and Lucas,14. He also has three beautiful granddaughters, Abigail, Emmalyn and Maya.

During his last months, Dave was taken care of in his home by two wonderful people he considered Angels, Jessica Duxbury and Kate Roehrick, and the wonderful nurses of Heartland Hospice Care. There will be no funeral or memorial per David's wishes as he continues to teach students by donating his body to be studied by the Mayo Clinic Anatomy Department.

I knew Dave from golf at Eastwood and working at his house for the telephone company. He was always kind and quick with a smile. I will miss him.
