David R. Carpenter, 76, from Philadelphia, PA and raised in Clayton, NY passed away on 9/16/2025. Dave was born on 12/18/1948 in Cortland, NY.

Dave was the eldest of five children born to Carl and Josephine Carpenter of Clayton, NY.

During his younger years Dave was an altar boy at St. Mary's Catholic church in Clayton, NY. Dave graduated from Clayton High School in Clayton, NY in 1967. After high school Dave enlisted in the Air Force and worked stateside in intelligence. After leaving the Air Force, he graduated from Central Michigan University.

Dave had an insatiable curiosity that deepened with his extensive world travels in later life with his sister, Cindi and close friend, Mike Bennett. He was a successful businessman in his company Numeric based in Philadelphia PA. Dave had many passions including gardening, history, museums and art but these were surpassed by the love he had for his two sons, Matthew and Benjamin. He was also a pickleball enthusiast. Dave was a devoted father, brother and friend.

Dave is survived by his sons, Matthew and Benjamin, his sisters Cindi (Carpenter)Zorokong, Regi Carpenter and Mary Carpenter, several nephews and nieces and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother Timothy in 2005 and father Carl and mother Josephine in 2008.

The family will hold a private memorial in October.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Hospital at University of Pennsylvania, Magee Rehabilitation, Penn Medicine and Vitas Hospice Services for their kindness and support.
