David CASAVANT Obituary

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix from Jul. 31 to Aug. 1, 2017.
David Charles Casavant
1977 - 2017
It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected death of David Charles Casavant at his home on Saturday July 29, 2017. The youngest of 4 children, David was born on December 20, 1977. He worked alongside his dad with Casavant Construction, Guertin Equipment, and then Cervus Equipment until his health made it too difficult to continue working. David was passionate about snowmobiling and quadding. The more snow we had in the winter the better and a little mud never stopped him from going out on the quad. David was a kind and generous son, brother, uncle and friend. He loved to spend time with his nieces and nephews and his great-nieces. He always had time to help his family and friends, no questions asked. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tease all of us. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. David was predeceased by his dad, Richard H., paternal grandparents, Donat and Gladys Casavant, maternal grandparents, Ralph and Lena Boehm, Uncle Arthur Casavant, and Uncle John Kuzyk. David is survived by his mom, Doreen, sisters Kathleen (Simon) Reschny, Donna (Rob) Schmeiser, and brother Richard J. (Dina) Casavant; nephews and nieces, Cameron Kautzman, Jason (Tami) Kautzman, Kimberly (Justin) Scott, Robbie Schmeiser (Chelsea Voinorosky), Kaitlyn (Tim) Landeryou, Matthew Schmeiser, Brittney Casavant (Taylor Clackson), and Richard M. Casavant (Nicole Berscheid); great-nieces Rachel and Emily Scott and Ella Kautzman; Uncle Marcel (Chris) Casavant, Aunt Lena Kuzyk, numerous cousins and friends. Vigil for David will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Both services will be at Holy Family Roman Catholic Cathedral, 123 Nelson Road, Saskatoon. Rite of Committal will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations in David's honour may be made to the Royal University Hospital Foundation, (Electro Physiology Lab), 103 Hospital Drive, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0W8. I had the privilege of calling David my friend, for many years we were inseparable. He introduced me to riding dirt bikes starting with Suzuki JR 50 and snowmobiling with the Yamaha Snoscoot. We learned and made many memories together. From clearing the lot at Meeting Lake for the Cabin to Camping and days of 4x4 driving around the Nesibut forest. I have told my kids stories about my friend Dave and Iand they always listen intently. David introduced me to my wife 20yrs ago and he will always have a place in my heart.
Doreen and family, you have my deepest sympathy for your loss.

My heart hurts to hear of David's passing. Even though David was younger than me,I remember him fondly from elementary school. He was the cutest and kindest little boy you ever did see. His calm and happy demeanor always made me feel like I wanted to hug him and it looks as though he remained that character into his adult years. My sincere condolences to all of the family and friends who loved him.
