Cervantes, David Eugene
February 8, 1962 - September 13, 2017

Family and friends mourn the passing of their dear David who died of natural causes on September 13, 2017. His death came unexpectedly even though he had suffered consistently from complications due to adult-onset Diabetes. David is survived by his parents, Lila Lee Cervantes and Donald F. Cervantes; his siblings Lynette C. Cervantes, Lisa Cervantes Morehart, Cynthia Cervantes Martin and Don Felix Cervantes; and former wife Mallory Freeman. David was a talented and dedicated Mechanical Engineer and Executive Project Manager who was skilled at motivating and inspiring others to bring multi-million dollar construction projects towards successful completion in the face of strong physical demands. He was best known for the respect he gave young engineers and the time he took from his busy professional life to mentor others throughout his long and successful career. His accomplishments include LAX Terminals 7 & 8 Redevelopment Project, Martin Luther King Medical Center Ambulatory Care Facility and University Gateway Student Housing at the University of Southern California. A single word summarizes who he was: Generosity. David will be most remembered for his love and generosity towards the young people in his life, especially his step-children Byndi and Braxtyn Castaneda and his nine nieces and nephews, Sydney Morehart Dickinson, Maude Boersema, Alice Martin, Louis Martin, Joey Pellegrini, Adele Martin, Nicky Pellegrini, Jack Morehart and Josephine Martin. David gave of himself the most valuable gift anyone could offer: his time.

I´m so sorry to see David passed away, I met him back in around 1996 ish, such a sweet, and caring guy. Have thought about you often through the years Dave, rest peacefully, love you

David was my best friend growing up in La Habra. We went our own ways after leaving Cuesta College but I always considered him my truest friend. I named my first child after David and I am sad to say he probably didn't know. I was very close to "Mr. and Mrs. C" growing up. This is simply devastating to me - I can only imagine what it is like for the family. I remember working at ACS in high school - just great times. Mr. C and David instilled a love of Porsches in me - I have had then now as long as I could afford them.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I should have done a better job of reaching out sooner. I am not sure who will get this but my email is [email protected] - I sincerely love the Cervantes family.
