I just discovered one of my favorite people has passed. Mr. Chalmers was my headmaster at Penicuik High School from 1977 to 1980. He was a wonderful man, so kind, wise, honest, straight laced and funny! He was a good family friend for many years and even attended my wedding in Edinburgh in 1993. He was a colleague and friend to my mother who sadly passed on Dec 30th 2017 just a month later. They both respected each other and were such good verbal sparring partners and friends they laughed a lot together and I will miss them both so very, very much.
It is very true what the old adage says that they just "don't make them like that anymore."
My sincere condolences to his family and I have to say it was my privilege to know him and be one of his students. Mr. Chalmers was a true spirit, a wise teacher and a real gentleman.

Had the pleasure to work with one of the best Head Teachers there ever was. Good and very fair boss. Had many reasons to thank him.
Called a spade a spade I liked that no messing about. Would have gone back at any time to work with him. Shall be missed
RIP
