David Donovan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 30, 2025.
David Brian Donovan, a longtime resident of Dracut, 63, passed away on April 29, 2025, in Boston, Massachusetts, surrounded by his beloved sisters. Born on June 2, 1961, David lived a life marked by dedication to family, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys that brought him happiness.

At the heart of David's life was his family. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 40 years, Roberta; daughters Carolanne, Sara, and Emily; sons-in-law Ryan and Jeff; and grandchildren Spencer, Sloane, and another on the way. He also leaves behind his devoted sisters Gail and Carolyn. David's extended family includes countless cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly. In addition to family, David leaves behind a group of friends who were more like brothers over their 45+ year friendship: Jimmy, Timmy, and Dave. He was predeceased by his parents, Mildred and Frances Donovan.

David built a successful 23-year career at Picturetel/Polycom, where he served as a product support specialist and later as a lab support specialist. His commitment to his work and his colleagues left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

David found joy in many passions throughout his life. He loved playing pool and maintaining his motorcycle-activities that brought him both excitement and peace. In earlier years, he enjoyed playing basketball and he remained active in spirit and took great pride in maintaining his yard with care and attention in later years. Time spent with his grandchildren was especially meaningful to him, as were quiet moments watching game shows; simple pleasures that reflected the warmth of his personality.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at The Village Inn, located at 544 Broadway Rd., Dracut, Massachusetts 01826. In lieu of flowers, a collection will be taken at the event to benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute where David received 23 years of exceptional care.

RIP David. You and your family grew up with us in "the hood". You & your sisters were a part of this very special "society". We had the best neighborhood & most all of us are still friends to this day. I can still recall your Mom "Milly"& her death defying car rides down Mill Rd. screaming for our young lives!!! You will be surely missed David. My deepest sympathies to the Family.

To Roberta and the entire Donovan Family

My deepest condolences on the loss of David. I first met Dave in high school in the late 70´s. We hung out with a close group of friends back then. We all enjoyed camping, concerts.motorcycles and of course all the parties ! As we all got older and started families some friends slowly moved on but Jim, Tim , Dave and I still remained in close contact. When we did get together we did what we always did, as Tim said best, we laughed a lot. He will be missed by everyone that loved him. Rest in peace my brother. Godspeed
