David Elwell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 22, 2023.
David Forbes Elwell, age 77, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on June 21, 2023.

David was born on December 21, 1945 to Muriel (nee Forbes) and Percy Elwell in Gloucester, Massachusetts. He was a proud veteran of US Navy serving in Vietnam aboard the USS Intrepid. He married the love of his life, Veronica, on December 21, 1990 (his birthday) so he would never forget their anniversary. Although one year, he forgot both...lol. David was an avid golfer, loved the ocean, diving for lobster, fishing, and catching blue crab. He loved to entertain and cook for friends and family often including several rounds of his famous shrimp. He loved playing silly games with his grandchildren and teaching them about child labor laws, haha. They had so much love for their Papa aka "Pups".

David is survived by his loving wife, Veronica, his children, Scott (Amber) Theut, Jeffrey (Kara) Theut, and Laura (Carl) Huber, sister, Rebecca (Paul) Catalanotti, brother, Brian Elwell, grandchildren; Brandi, Melissa, Alexis, Anthony, Morgan, Nikolas, Jeff, Jenna, Olivia, Ivy and Aaron and great-grandson Mason.

He was preceeded in death by his mother, father, and sister Dianne Morris.

The family will celebrate his life in private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Disabled American Veterans or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I remember meeting him, I think it was the first time for dinner, he cooked his famous shrimp and we had a water fight in the kitchen, I was wet and he gave me a T-shirt from a golfing tournament....I never gave it back..I still have it. We will miss him and his grand sense of humor.
