David Feinberg Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 2, 2023.
David Scott Feinberg, son of Louis and Merle Feinberg of Maitland, FL was born March 29th, 1960. After spending his sophomore and junior years at The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida. David graduated from Edgewater High School of Orlando, FL in 1979.

David attended The Florida State University, graduating with a degree in Criminology in 1982. The FSU College for Criminal Justice has consistently been ranked as the top college for Criminal Justice in the country.

After working as an undercover investigator for many federally appointed attorneys, David enrolled at the Thomas Cooley Law School in 1986 to fulfill his dream of becoming an attorney. While studying at Thomas Cooley, David served as the President of the Student Bar Association (1988/1989), was a presiding finalist in the moot court competition and served in the Elder Law Clinic.

David married his first wife Kathleen and started a family while in Law School. He started practicing criminal law in Lansing, Michigan immediately upon graduating in 1989. As he built a successful private law practice, David continued to mentor students as he served as an adjunct professor at his Alma matter.

In 2006 David met the love of his life, Susan. They were married in May of 2009. The addition of Susan Feinberg was one of the best things that happened to David and the Feinberg family. She had the most wonderful, calming, loving effect on David. They shared a love of golf, family and traveling. They loved their dogs Haley and Shiloh so very much.

David had many passions in life and golf was one he thoroughly enjoyed with friends, especially with his son Hunter. He was a skilled soccer player, coaching many teams, including his children's. He was most happy at the beach or by a pool soaking in the sunshine. He was the biggest football fan and would spend all week avidly following all of his favorite teams.

He was affectionately nicknamed "Doppler Dave" as he was our family and friend's personal weatherman.

David passed away suddenly on November 28th, 2023 at the age of 63 in Lansing, Michigan. He leaves behind his loving wife, Sue Feinberg, his parents, Louis and Merle Feinberg; siblings Tobi Plank, Mark Feinberg (Dianna) and Andrew Feinberg (Michelle); his children Meredith Gizmunt (Christopher), Tess Kiskaddon (Jonathan), Hunter Feinberg (Kate), Jade Feinberg and Chad McNally; and his grandchildren Birdie Gizmunt, Willow Gizmunt, Theo Gizmunt, Lenora Kiskaddon and Lumen Kiskaddon.

Services will be held at Temple Israel Cemetery in Gotha, FL at 1pm on Sunday, December 2nd, 2023.

I am coming late to this, never heard about this loss. David was funny and so nice. It was always nice to come across him at court or where ever. Haven't seen him in a long time, and now I know why, He will be missed.

I had heard so many funny stories of David through Tess and Mer, and finally got to meet the man himself while visiting Michigan with Tess. He has such a huge personality, and I know he will be so unbelievably missed. My heart goes out to his whole family.

My wife Sue and I met David when we moved back to the Lansing area in 1990. We shared good friends in Doug & Kate Alchin and came to be good friends with David! He had a million dollar smile, a sharp wit and a brilliant mind including a photogenic memory which he displayed one New Years Eve dinner where he recited specifically what each of 10 of us had ordered for a New Years dinner together one year earlier! You are missed David!

David took this picture a couple years ago when Sue hosted our BLUE LAKE LODGE LADIES holiday gathering.
I enjoyed every conversation I had with David over the years. There were not many, but loved how "real" he was! He was a kind man and his love for Sue was strong and clear he loved all of her friends, too Gone too soon and my heart breaks for Sue and their families.
