David Fontaine Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 25, 2023.
David Ronald Fontaine, 56, of North Attleboro, MA, passed away on August 23, 2023. Born on March 23, 1967, in Pawtucket, RI, David was the beloved son of Emile Fontaine and Jacqueline (Laberge) Fontaine.

David was a fun-loving, witty, and strong individual who brought joy to everyone around him. He was known for his caring and faithful nature, always ready to lend a helping hand. David's intelligence and innovative spirit were evident in his passion for cars, as he was a true car enthusiast. He was working on restoring a '55 Chevrolet Bel Air. He could learn anything he put his mind to with the help of YouTube. He recently traveled to the 50th Anniversary of the Barrett Jackson Auction to celebrate his 30th wedding anniversary with his wife, Cathy (Smith) Fontaine.

In addition to his love for cars, David enjoyed attending swap meets and spending time on Cape Cod. He found solace in fishing, golfing, working on his cars, and spending time with his dog, Axle. One of his favorite summer activities was spending time at Grindell's Ocean View Park in Cape Cod, where he developed lifelong friendships. David also had a deep love for sports and enjoyed watching the Patriots and Bruins.

David leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Cathy, his parents, Emile and Jacqueline, his twin daughters, Heather (Fontaine) Carlson and Laurel Fontaine, his sons-in-law, Robert Carlson, and Cory Bentley, his sister, Melissa (Fontaine) Quimby, and husband Dwayne Quimby. Mother-in-law Marilyn (Nadow) Smith, sister-in-law Sharon Smith, Dianne (Smith) Lareau, and husband, Stephen. Brother-in-law William Smith and wife, Laurie. Nieces and Nephews, Brett, Chad and Adam Lareau, Will, Michael, and Dean Smith, and Travis and Melina Quimby.

A ceremony to celebrate David's life will be held on Wednesday, August 30th, at 10 a.m. at Waters Church, located at 57 John L Dietsch Square, North Attleboro, MA 02763. A gathering will immediately follow the service at the North Attleboro Elks, 52 Bullfinch Street.

David will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May his memory live on in our hearts forever.

This is a total shock for Ginny and I. We are so sorry ourheart goes out to Kathy and the kids and the rest of the family.David was a great man had a heart of gold I was just texting with him on August 17 about some cars that I was looking at in a garage. David was someone you could count on at any time of the day, when my son passed away The first person I called was David and Kathy if they could come over and watch my grandkids they were there within minutes. I love serving with David at Waters Church on the parking team we had so much fun more laughs than you can count. We work together on the church actually with my son before he passed away. He let me stay at his house when I came up from North Carolina to visit was always hospitable. I´ll never forget the time we were working on his car in the garage putting a motor in.the man was a genius when it came to that I´ll miss him with all my heart even though I live 14 hours away we always stayed in touch.

So sorry to hear about Dave. Met him at Bird Machine, got him a job a BE Peterson. Kept in touch when he was working in Pawtucket and then Artisan Industries. He would reach out to me with welding questions which I enjoyed discussing with him. Seems like a few months ago we connected on Facebook messenger when he told me he left Artisan. I will miss hearing from him. My prayers go out to his family.

I close my eyes, I remember,
A man of help, kind and tender. The shirt off his back type of guy, wrench in his hand, with a skillful eye. To know David, I was blessed, I pray Lord God his spirit be at rest. Amen.
You will be remembered.
My Condolences
