David Foster Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 8, 2025.
Loganville - FOSTER - David Charles Foster, age 76 of Loganville, GA, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025. A visitation will be held 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Tim Stewart Funeral Home in Loganville. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at Church on Main, 2400 Main St E #3361, Snellville, GA 30078, with Pastor Brian Boyles officiating. Interment will follow the service at Barrow Memorial Gardens, 793 Atlanta Hwy SE, Winder, GA 30680, with friend Stan Parton officiating. The family will also receive friends and family one hour prior to the service on Sunday. David grew up in Jefferson, GA. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1967, where he lettered in football, baseball, wrestling, and track. He later served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He married his loving wife Janis Thornton Foster in 1972. They later were loving and devoted parents to Chris and Nicole and a proud Mimi and Papa to 3 grandchildren. David was a loyal employee of Walton EMC for 43 years where he made lasting friendships and devoted service to his community. David was well known for his community work, such as his participation in the Boys & Girls Club as a board member in Gwinnett County, Kiwanis Club of Snellville as President, Vice-President, and longtime member. He was also a judge for the EMC/FFA Wiring Contest for many years, as well as an honorary farmer by the FFA of Georgia. In retirement, he served as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) helping Banks, Barrow, and Jackson County to advocate for abused and /or neglected children. He was a faithful Deacon at Bethany Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Snellville (Church on Main). He was joyfully involved in multiple ministries in the churches he attended. If he was not at a church or community event, he was often seen at a ball field cheering on his grandchildren or supporting his family in anything they were involved in. In the earlier days you could find him on the golf course or shooting sporting clays in many charity events. David has left a legacy of kindness, gentleness, and faithful servitude, consistently showing God's love through his actions in all he did. His actions often spoke louder than his words. David is preceded in death by his loving wife of 39 years, Janis Thornton Foster; parents, Charles and Frances (Haynie) Foster; brother, Gerald (Carolyn) Foster. He is survived by his children, Chris (Sarah) Foster, of Atlanta, GA; Nicole (Brad) Barrett, of Snellville, GA; grandchildren, Davis Foster, Addison Barrett, and Landon Barrett; sisters and brothers-in-law Melissa (Cary) Carter of Jefferson, GA; Melinda (Terry) Fleeman, of Brunswick, GA; aunt, Joan Crowe, of Kathleen, GA; brother-in-law Everett Thornton, of Winder, GA; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
