David George Giesbrecht

It is with broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of David Giesbrecht. Loving husband, favourite travel partner and completely bonded soul mate of Tracie Giesbrecht (nee Douglas). His heart and soul were his daughters: Jennica, Annie and Honour and Mandy who was like a daughter to him. "Everything I do I do for them." Dear son of Jake and Helen Giesbrecht. Much loved brother of Karalyn Kohan, Sandy (Rick) Polson, Colleen Kwade, Kathy (Art) Willms and Jeremy (Kathy) and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Son-in-law of Avis Carter and brother-in-law of Lynda and Janice (Jamie) Douglas. David was a teacher favoured by many students and a respected and loved colleague. He loved to explore the beauty of the world and share how he saw it through photography. He was especially at home and energized by engaging with other cultures and enjoyed the last 10 years living in Qatar. He always loved learning new things and was very creative. Years ago he learned Spanish and was recently learning French. He soothed and entertained many of us with his guitar playing. He could also bring us to tears laughing with his silly made-up-on-the-spot songs. David was a spiritual person who felt that the best way to commune with God was in nature, especially on silent walks in the forest. He will be deeply and sorely missed. We will remember his gentleness forever and honour him by loving with the same kindness he always extended to others. In honouring David's memory there will be a memorial service in January.
