David Gulay Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 15, 2009.
GULAY, David John (Dave) April 1, 1961 - September, 10, 2009 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of David Gulay after a period of illness on Thursday, September 10, 2009 in Edmonton, at the young age of 48, his family by his side. Left to treasure the memory of Dave's generous love and big heart, humour and spirit for life, are his brothers Donny, Jeff (Dixie) and Darryl, and nephews Jason and Trevor. Dave was predeceased at a young age by loving parents Cecile and Russell. Also remembering him with affection are his aunt Irene and uncle Steve Gabon, his aunt Ann and uncle Terry Mudry, several cousins, and many good friends and work mates. Dave was born and raised in Edmonton and was living in the Millwoods area when he passed away. He was a UFCW union shop steward for many years; a responsibility he took great pride in and put much of his energy into. Through his work he made many friends and with them shared many good times. Dave enjoyed the wonder and beauty of nature and was also awed by the achievements of human ingenuity in both the arts and sciences. He always had a smile to give and humour to share. A generous, gentle soul with a strongly centred character and an easygoing, disarming charm. Deeply missed and forever loved. Rest in Peace. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 11223 - 51st Avenue, with Pastor Mark Hornig officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. I met David about a year ago through one of his friends. He was one of the most caring, loving, compationate people i had ever met. He was gracefull and had a gentle soul. When i was in his presence, he always had his little notebook with him, and he would read alod his poems to us. He was very proud of them. His heart was always in the right place. I wished i'd had made the effort to know more of him when i had the chance. But i know it's not too late cause someday we'll all be up there with him listening to him read from his little notebook once again.
My deepest condolences to his family and friends. His presence will be greatly missed. :)

God Bless u all!
