David Harbison Obituary
David Harbison, Sr.
David was a graduate of Crest High School, He went on to further his education at Cleveland Community College and Gaston College. He was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church of Kingstown where he was a deacon and loved to teach Sunday School. David was very active in the community and was a lifelong member of the Golden Bulls Softball Team. He loved his family, church, and sports.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Charlie Finney; a sister- in-law, Patricia Rudisill and a brother-in-law, Jimmy Louis Finney.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 32 years, Janice F. Harbison; his mother, Lillie A. Harbison of Shelby, NC; three daughters, Kinna Degree Scearce (William) of Seattle, WA, Jasmine Rain Harbison and Taylor Jade Harbison both of Shelby; his siblings, Shirley Dawkins (Mitchell), Patricia Smith, Barbara Coleman (Johnny) all of Shelby, Charles Harbison (Tammy) of Tempe, AZ, Linda Davie (Nelson) of Gastonia, NC, Herbert Harbison (Serena) of Oxford, NC, Sharon Clark (Donald, Sr.) of Boiling Springs, NC, Tina Harbison, James Harbison, Jr. (Brandi), Jennifer McCluney (Michael), Tamika Houston and Shareka Harbison all of Shelby; six grandchildren, Anaya Williams, Kellis Williams, Seth Williams, Zaya Williams, William Williams-Scearce and Nicholas Scearce all of Seattle, WA; his mother-in-law, Georgia Finney of Kingstown, NC; three sisters-in-law, Pam Boyce (T.L.) of Shelby, Charline Finney of Kingstown, NC and Pauline Merritt (Wayne) of Shelby; two brothers-in-law, Charles Finney of Kingstown and Douglas Finney (Alva) of Shelby and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 2:30 PM at Shoal Creek Baptist Church, 619 Chapel Drive Shelby, NC with Pastor Ricky McCluney officiating and Pastor William Montgomery, Jr. delivering the eulogy. Burial will take place at Hopewell Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM on Friday and at other times at the home.
