David Heisler Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 1 to Apr. 2, 2008.
HEISLER, DAVID MICHAEL- died March 30, 2008 at the age of 62 years from a superbug infection. He was born on November 8, 1945 in London, England. Dave grew up in Regina, which was home until 2006 when he moved to Weyburn. Sport activities were David's life. Throughout his thirty-five year career with the City of Regina Parks and Recreation Department, he met many people in the sports community. He played baseball, football, and hockey and he also enjoyed water skiing and golf. His passion was to stay fit so he played floor hockey, lifted weights, and jogged regularly. He was a member of the YMCA Men's Club. His proudest moments came as a father as his daughters were involved in higher levels of sport, both in soccer and basketball. He umpired ball for a number of years. He loved dogs, time at the beach, summers at Chaffey's Locks, camping, and playing with his children. He loved being out doors and he took pride in his yard. He was always eager to lend a helping hand. Dave was predeceased by his father Tony in 2002. He is survived by his mother Helen, his wife Dale Anderson Heisler, his daughters Crystal and Brittany, their mother Pam, his granddaughter Aija, his sister Jeannette (Randy) Hargreaves, her children Chad and Jade Graves, his step-children Alex, Levi, Abby, and Jenna, their spouses and children, and many wonderful in-laws. Special thank you to Sheila, Drey, Steve and other I.C.U. staff at the Pasqua Hospital. Two services will be held on Thursday, April 3rd, 2008. A funeral service will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church in Weyburn at 10:30 am and a memorial will be held in Regina at The Living Spirit Centre (3018 Doan Drive) at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Regina Sport (Urban Youth Sport Initiative) at #201 1860 Lorne St. S4P 2L7

Dear Jeannette and Helen, I was so shocked to hear of Dave's passing. Dave was like another Big Brother to me as you and I went through ours teen and young adult years together. we always had a nice chat when we ran into each other now and then. You know I am thinking of you both and although we do not get to see much of each other, I still consider you my best friend ever. Please contact me by email as I no longer have yours due to my computer crash. Love you both. Claudia and family

Dear Auntie Helen and Jeannie: I am so sorry to hear about the passing of David. This is a tragic way to end ones life that still had lots left to live for. David was a very kind person who always stopped and talked to me and my family when ever we ran into him at the mall, at work or even when getting groceries at Superstore. He was so very proud of Crystal and Brittney as he always spoke so highly of them and their accomplishments. I know that I will miss David very much and so will my family. Love always, your cousins; Joanne, husband Sidney and children Ty and Millennia DeRoose

My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
My first memories of Dave were as a playground supervisor with the city coming to the local playground and then later on our paths crossed again as a ball umpire. He'll be missed by all who knew him.
