David Hicks Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 20, 2025.
David Lynn Hicks, 77, passed away on April 18, 2025, in Parrish, Florida. Born on November 20, 1947, in Hot Springs, Virginia, David lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and unwavering integrity.

David proudly served in the United States Army, exemplifying courage and commitment during his time in uniform. His military service was a defining chapter of his life and reflected the values he carried throughout all his years-discipline, loyalty, and honor.

He was a devoted father to his daughter Ashley Cookson and son David Hicks II. His love for them was evident in every aspect of his life. As a grandfather, he found immense joy in spending time with Juliette Cookson, John Avery Cookson, and Harlyn Hicks. His presence brought warmth and laughter to their lives.

David shared a close bond with his sister Ann Bird and remained connected to a large extended family that included numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Bird, father Willard Hicks, and brother Grey Lee Hicks.

Those who knew David remember him as a great friend steadfast and generous with both his time and heart. He was known for being a hardworking man whose efforts left lasting impressions on those around him. Whether through quiet acts of kindness or steadfast support during difficult times, David's character shone brightly.

His legacy lives on through the lives he touched-his children and grandchildren who carry forward his strength and spirit; his sister who shared in the memories of their youth; and the many friends and extended family members who were fortunate to know him.

May the memory of David Lynn Hicks bring comfort to all who mourn his passing and serve as a reminder of a life well-lived.
