David Higginbotham Obituary
David was born January 6, 1947 in Palestine, Texas to William Gordon and Margaret Thelma Rose Higginbotham and passed away on December 14, 2011 at his home in Conroe, Texas. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. David was a founding member of the Yaupon Creek Silhouette Association, a charter member of the American Mountain Man Association, a member of the 1896 Cowboy Club, a life member of the N.R.A. and the owner of Lone Star Rifle Company, Inc.
He is survived by his wife, Katha Julene Higginbotham of Conroe; daughters, Kellie Higginbotham Fields and husband Tommy of Cypress and Katharyn Lane Azzareello of Austin; sons, David Monroe Gray of San Antonio and Allen Bart Cook of Cleveland; brothers, Kenneth Gordon Higginbotham and wife Joyce of Jourdanton and William Joey Higginbotham and wife Darlene of Baytown; grandchildren, Darren Cole Gray, Brittni Nicole Gray, Austin Monroe Gray, Cadence Grant Fields and Colton David Fields. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in David's name to the A.C.L.J., American Center for Law & Justice, P. O. Box 90555, Washington, D.C. 20090-0555. You are invited to leave written messages and condolences for the family on our website at www.cashnerconroe.com.

I was so sorry to hear of Dave's death. I knew him only through e-mail and a few phone conversations that we had last summer when he was re-barreling my rolling block. The impression gained from that contact was that he was a man of integrity, skill and knowledge. I love my rifle and will cherish it even more now that it is probably one of the last he worked on. My condolences to his family and friends. My God bless Dave and his family. They should be comforted by the assurance that he is now in the arms of the Lord.

We are sorry for your loss. Though we never met in person, it was always a pleasure to speak with Mr. Higginbotham on the phone. His postive attitude and joy for life brightened up the day instantly. He will be greatly missed.

I had the pleasure of speaking to Dave a short time before his death. I was moved by how helpful he was, and willing to devote time to answering my questions. I was shocked and saddened to hear we have lost such a talented, thoughtful man. I'm sorry for your loss.

Katha, again, I just want to say how much Garry and I enjoyed David's cutting up in class, yet very serious-minded attitude about the salvation of others. He will be sorely missed by us all. We do take comfort in knowing that he is no longer suffering the arthrtic pain he asked us to pray about, and he is in heaven with our Lord celebrating and having a grand ol' time. We will all meet again where there will be no more separation and no more prayers for hurting hearts and bodies. Please join us again soon in Sunday School. We will forever miss David's wittiness, his sincereity, his smile, his love for life, his love for his family & friends, the naming of Biblical names, and most of all his love for his Lord Jesus. How our hearts grieve for you. We are deeply saddened at the loss of our brother in Christ. Dave was an upstanding, faithful soldier in the Lord's army. He was a credit to the arms community he served with integrity and excellence. He will be sorely missed.

We are so saddened for your loss. Our hearts have been heavy since we heard of Dave's passing. We have all lost a wonderful friend and a man who loved God with all his heart. Our Sunday School won't be the same without his comments. His sense of humor and his story telling are legend and we were very blessed to have had his wisdom and wit each week as we studied the scripture together.
We know that soon we will all be together again worshiping our Lord and Savior around the throne. That truth makes these tears we shed easier to bear.

I am sorry to hear of your great loss. My time spent with Dave was limited, but I was always impressed by the fact that our conversations wich began with firearms or hunting eventually lead to something far greater, a common relationship through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I am saddened by the loss of a family man, a friend, and a contributor to the firearms industry, but I am comforted knowing that our/your loss is only temporary. Jesus tells us that a tree is recognized by the fruit that it produces. The short amount of time that I spent with Dave revealed that he lived his life for something far greater than himself.
