David Richard Hoffman

David Richard Hoffman, 70, passed away in the hospital from natural causes near his home in San Pedro, California on April 3, 2024. He was born on November 22, 1953 in Reading, PA and grew up in Cumru Township. David was a kind, caring, Christian man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

David pursued his education at Governor Mifflin Senior High School, where he graduated with honors and later graduated from Albright College with a B.S. degree in Economics. He had a successful career in the banking field, first as a federal bank examiner with the Comptroller of the Currency and later working as a loan officer with Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh and Union Bank in Los Angeles.

David found solace in the Church of the Nazarene, attending services in Reading, New Cumberland, and Bethel Park, Pennsylvania where he served as church treasurer. He later attended churches in the Los Angeles area. He was known for his love of travel, especially his trips throughout the country including to national parks. David also enjoyed traveling to Europe, especially after retiring, often joining Rick Steves tours. In his free time, he indulged in photography, followed sports passionately and had a keen interest in statistics. He also served as a condo board president.

David was preceded in death by his father Robert B. Hoffman and his mother Patricia L. (Gormley) Hoffman. He is survived by his brothers Stephen of Allentown, Richard of Cumru Township and brother James, sister-in-law Lisa and nephews James and William, all of Havertown, PA.

A visitation and viewing will be held on Saturday, April 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Klee Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1 East Lancaster Ave., Shillington, followed by a service at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton, Exeter Township. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the American Heart Association.

David will be remembered for his warm heart, dedication to his faith, and passion for exploring the world around him. May he rest in peace.
