David Johnson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 3, 2024.
David C. Johnson, 55, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, passed away at home surrounded by family on June 26th, 2024 in Clinton, Connecticut after a year long, hard fought battle with brain cancer. He was born on February 16th, 1969 in Lynn, Massachusetts, and soon after moved with his family to Plymouth, MA where he spent his childhood and formed friendships to last a lifetime. David spent his early adult life in Columbus, OH, returning to MA in 2002 to marry the love of his life and highschool sweetheart, Wendy (Woodmansee) to whom he was married for 21 beautiful years. Together they raised two wonderful children; their son Cameron and daughter Krystina. He was the beloved son of Ruth and Steven Greengross, brother of Dan and Kevin (spouse Paula), and uncle and godfather of Adrianna. He was predeceased by Robert Johnson (father) and his beloved Nana and Grampy (Bill and Phyllis Charron). David poured all of his energy into being the best person he could be and his life was defined by love and devotion to his family and friends.

David was a graduate of Plymouth-Carver High School and earned his Bachelor's degree from Franklin University, Columbus, OH. He went on to earn a Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University. After many years as operations manager for landscaping companies in Ohio, Massachusetts and Connecticut, David started Sterling Lawn and Landscape with his wife running it successfully for years. David then devoted his time into bettering the town of Clinton while working for the Town of Clinton, Department of Public Works. David was a proud member of the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department for many years, fulfilling a lifelong dream and making everlasting friendships. During his time he reached the rank of Lieutenant. David was also an EMT caring for the people of Clinton and Chester, CT for many years.

David was known for his kindness, intelligence and gracious ability to always lend a hand to someone in need, no matter the circumstance. He had a smile that lit up any room he entered and had an amazing sense of humor. David was extremely intelligent and had a passion for learning, as well as teaching. He enjoyed working in his prized yard, listening to rock music, and going to concerts whenever he could. He was also an avid sports lover. There was always a game on, especially all of the Boston sports teams and the New England Patriots, which were his lifelong favorites.

A Celebration of Life for David will be held at the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department, 35 E. Main St, Clinton, CT 06413 on Sunday July 21, 2024 beginning at 1pm for all friends and family to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Brain Cancer Research (CTBTA), The KARE Foundation (Guilford, CT) or the Clinton Rotary Cancer Relief Fund in David's Memory.

The family wishes to thank everyone who has supported us over the past year, especially the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department, his fellow town employees, and his care team at Yale New Haven Smilow.

David's kindness, wisdom, and free spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed enough to know and love him.

July 19, 2024

Pete and I have many fond memories of David, especially during summer vacations in NH at Lake Ossipee. He learned to water ski, with Pete's help, and became a member of the "Conner -Johnson International Water Ski Club"!!!
(Ruth & I made it up) & presented David & all the others that learned, with a Certificate of Achievement & a bubble gum cigar! Those were the fun days that hold so many great memories of him and David's whole family. We love you David, rest in His Peace, until we meet again.
