JOINER, David William July 16, 1924 - October 20, 2017 It is with great sadness that the family of David William Joiner announce his passing on October 20, 2017 at the age of 93 years. Beloved husband of 64 years to Rejeanne (Jean) Cayen. Cherished father of Janice, David (Carol Ann) and Sandra (Richard Lott). Much loved Poppa of Cara, Katie, Erin, Lena, Kaitlyn and Hannah. Great-Poppa to Ivy. Predeceased by his brothers Albert (Bert) and John. David will also be fondly remembered by numerous family and friends. David served in the navy on the HMCS Winnipeg during WWII and was a member of the Governor General's Foot Guards following the war. He retired in 1984 after working for 40 years with Energy, Mines and Resources. David enjoyed 35 years of retirement in which time he kept busy travelling, woodworking, gardening, creating stain glass windows for the church, playing bridge and enjoying summers with his family at his cottage at Otter Lake, Quebec. David was a faithful and active member of St. Augustine's Church since 1956. Family will receive visitors on Friday, October 27 at 9:30 prior to the Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 at St. Augustine's Church, 1060 Baseline Road, Ottawa. Interment to take place at Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Avenue, at 1 p.m. with reception to follow.
