Dave was friend, lover, fellow LRYer, travelling companion, teacher, and a lifelong inspiration for me. The time I spent in Ottawa, living with him and his family during the summer of 1974, remains the highlight of my teenage years. My thanks to Bill C. for tracking me down to tell me of David's death and asking me to share my thoughts and memories in this guest book. My thoughts are with you all.

Deepest sympathy in the passing of David.
I remember playing with both he and Lianne in Ottawa. Audry and Jack were dear friends of my mother, Elizabeth, who passed in 2006.
Remembering one and all.

First, a correction (of my error, I wrote the original copy): Trena was not David's ex-wife; in fact, though long separated, they remained close friends and co-parents and were still married at the time of his passing. My apologies to my good friend Trena.

I guess the calendar says I met David in 1968, in Jr High Group (pre-LRY age youth) at First Unitarian in Ottawa. We experienced those teenage years together in Ottawa, Unicamp, Boston, Kitchener, you name it, and eventually were both founding members of Dragonfly Farm in Lake St Peter ON. He was a smart, energetic, complex person with considerable charisma, and he was a friend for life. He loved being a dad and eventually a grandfather, and his generous nature extended well beyond his family. Although we lived far apart, I was lucky enough to have some great visits with him in the past few years, and it's hard to believe I won't get another phone call starting "Hey, bud," followed by a plan to go skiing or road-tripping.

Sayre, Bryar, Niya, and all those who he loved: so sorry for your great loss. Cherish the memories, the pain will ease, and the love doesn't go away.

See you, bud. I'll be thinking of you.

love
Bill

I knew David from LRY. It is far too soon to lose someone like him. He will be missed.

David,

You were the best big brother I ever could have asked for. Life has been changed totally, but we are all remembering your life and how full it was. You have touched many hearts and for that you will live on forever.
I miss you,
Lianne
