David Krick Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 25, 2024.
David James Krick, age 37, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. David was born in Robbinsdale, MN on September 3rd, 1986, to parents David Wayne Krick and Barbara Jean Potvin. He was a cherished brother to Jessica (Bryan) and Jennifer (Dan). He was preceded in death by his sister, Angela.

David served his country as a Combat Medic in the U.S. Army, with deployments in / to Iraq from 2008 to 2012. His service was marked by bravery and selflessness, earning him several medals and awards, and the respect and admiration of all who knew him. He was honorably discharged in 2012, having made significant contributions to his unit and his country.

Beyond his military service, David was a man of diverse interests and talents. An avid animal lover, he found joy in the companionship of his Patriot Assistant Dog, Brinkley, and his feline friend, Skitz. He taught himself how to play guitar before enlisting, and later found solace in archery, often sharing his enthusiasm with friends and family at the range. He enjoyed traveling and lived in various states across the U.S., leaving a trail of cherished memories and friendships in his wake.

In his post-military life, he rediscovered his natural artistic talents, drawing and finding peace by expressing himself through art. He remained an avid gamer, a skill he developed in childhood, and enjoyed spending quality time with loved ones over BBQs and pizza (always with a stash of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups nearby).

A special thought of thanks for the support of his fellow service members and the medical professionals at the V.A. who aided him on his journey. And for his best friend and Army brother, Sean, whose unwavering friendship brought him strength.

From Sean: "David was a soldier, a cavalryman, an archer, a brother, a son, a friend, a trickster, a comedian, a hopeless romantic, and one of the filthiest-minded people I'm sure I'll ever know. He carried a mountain of darkness on his shoulders, without hardly anyone ever knowing, and he did it with a smile. There's nothing he couldn't turn into a joke, and I'm sure he'd find something about all this unbelievably funny - if only he were to mock it."

David James Krick will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Archery. We lost touch for many years, and once we got back together again, he got us sisters into into it. I was VERY surprised when he bought me my bow. We would get together and go target shooting at night/weekends. It was neat to learn how to shoot, go to practice, and have my younger brother sharing his time with me doing something he loved.
