TUSCALOOSA – David Floyd Lawrence, age 50, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died August 9, 2018. Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2018, at Skyland Baptist Church with Rev. Jon Wiggins and Rev. Jimmy Garner officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2018 in the Fayette City Cemetery with Memory Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will begin at 1:30 until the service time at the church.
He was preceded in death by his father: G. Levert Lawrence.
Survivors include his mother, Patsy Lawrence; brother, Russell Lawrence and wife, Missy; niece, Audrey Lawrence; and nephews, Russ Lawrence and Luke Lawrence.
David began his career as a co-owner of the Hickory Pit, a local barbeque restaurant. He then moved to Gulf Shores where he worked for the Alabama State Parks System for several years. He returned to Tuscaloosa to work for Sealy Management and then the City of Tuscaloosa (TDOT Division) for the last 10 years. He enjoyed his job and was always the first to arrive each morning.
David attended Skyland Boulevard Baptist Church where he served as a greeter on Sunday mornings. He enjoyed bowling and participated in a bowling league and tournaments. He looked forward to spending time with his niece, Audrey; nephews, Russ and Luke; and his beloved dachshund, Lucy.
Pallbearers will be Russ Lawrence, Luke Lawrence, Tim Taylor, Dwain Lawrence, Andy Banks, Fred Hunter, Mike Cranmore and Harold Sanders
Honorary pallbearers are past and present employees of TDOT, members of Skyland Boulevard Baptist Church, friends and neighbors of Windsong South neighborhood, friends and neighbors of Hillcrest Gardens, Lawrence Hitt and Pugh, CPA's, Thursday Morning Breakfast Club, Scott Barton, Frank Dallas, Nick Lolley and employees of Buffalo Wild Wings.

Prayers for your family !! I knew David a short time when he came to Taylorville & was in my SS class but some people God lets you meet & you don't forget.. I thank God for that Blessing!!! David was the young guy in the class of old men but was always humble & respectful .. I always referred to him as our teenager in with a bunch of grandfathers!! David left because he felt God was calling him back to Skyland & I told him to follow God but we welcome him back anytime!! I loved that teenager(man) & I know Christ welcomed him with open arms..
