David Lemoine Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Jan. 7, 2012.
June 9th 1953- December 25th 2011 It is with great sadness that our family announces the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, brother and friend while visiting the British Virgin Islands. David is survived by his loving wife Tracy, daughters Christin and Kelsey, his siblings Brian, Paul and Michelle, their families, the Bancroft family and many friends. David was born in North Vancouver to the late Leona and Fred Lemoine. His family remained on the North Shore where he grew up enjoying the many activities of west coast life. David's life was directed by his two great loves...the air and water. He followed his passion and worked on B. C. waters for over 40 years. David was best known as a tugboat captain but wore many hats in his adventurous career. He always lived with a positive and optimistic attitude. His larger than life personality will be dearly missed by family, friends and colleagues. A celebration of David's life will be held on Saturday, January, 14th 2012 between the times of 2pm and 5pm, at Gleneagles Golf Course in West Vancouver. Reception to follow at the Lemoine residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made in David's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Mariners Rest Fund.

Dear Tracy,
So sorry to hear about David's passing. Although I never met him I can tell from his bio that he was indeed a kind and caring soul who lived life to the fullest.

We were saddened to hear of Dave's sudden passing , although we hadn't spoken for many years. Friends may grow apart but friendships will always remain and we will always remember Dave's carefree and kind spirit.

From the song "Sailing" by Chris Cross ..Well, it's not far down to paradise, at least it's not for me .
And if the wind is right you can sail away and find tranquility
Oh, the canvas can do miracles, just you wait and see...

May your sails always be full Dave

Tracy, Kristin & Kelsey
I met the family from time to time at Jim Pattison Toyota. We got together about 2 years ago, Dave, Kristin and me and we brought up a lot of funny stories. My family moved into the neighbourhood on Stone Crescent when I was 6. Dave took me under his wing and gave me guidance in a generous and kind way. People naturally gravitated towards Dave. We raced Go-Carts and we built them thanks to Dave. We built tree forts in the woods. We signed up for Little League together and learnt to ice skate together. Here's Dave, we're on the ice, new beginners, and we all fall down. Dave got up and within 5 minutes he was an ace. That's the way it was with Dave, he mastered everything quickly with a generous nature and a great sense of humour. Thank you Dave, I was very lucky to have had the pleasure of your company –my first best friend.
