David Lowe Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Aug. 20 to Aug. 21, 2016.
David W. Lowe - SAVANNAH - David W Lowe, 58, loving husband, father, grandpa, son, and brother, was born into eternal life on Thursday, August 18, 2016. Dave grew up in Detroit, Michigan, graduating from Sacred Heart High School, earning Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Criminal Justice from Wayne State University, and receiving a commission in the US Army. His military assignments spanned the country and the globe, with his last post at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield. After retiring, he continued his life of service as the Director of CSE for the Chatham County District Attorney's Office. An avid reader, Dave devoured books on military history, baseball, and most importantly, his Catholic faith. A passionate man who lived a life full of conviction and sacrificed for all who knew him, Dave's mix of quiet wit, sharp sense of humor, and fervent spirituality were truly unique. David Lowe was a warrior for the country, for the underserved children of Chatham County, in his valiant battle with cancer, and will now continue his work as a virtuous warrior for Christ. Dave was predeceased by his father, Donald W. Lowe and his brother, Douglas W. Lowe. Dave is survived by his mother Lorraine of Dearborn, Michigan; his loving wife Sheila, son Christopher (Erica) and daughter Meghan; grandsons Jacob and Brody; brother Dennis Lowe (Sue) of Farmington Hills, Michigan; uncle Edmund Sperkowski of Dearborn Heights, Michigan; aunt Gerrie Francis of Sterling Heights, Michigan; sister in law Johnna Lowe of Novi, Michigan; brother in law John Kennedy (Ida) of Mauldin, South Carolina; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dave's family wishes to thank Dr George Negrea and Dr John Pablo, the outstanding staff of Low Country Cancer Care and Savannah Radiation Oncology at the Lewis Cancer Research Pavilion, and the staff of St Joseph/Candler for their outstanding care and kindness. A visitation will be held Sunday, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM, with a Rosary Prayer service at 6:00 PM, at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel. Fathers Michael Kavanaugh and Brett Brannen will concelebrate a Funeral Mass on Monday, at 10:00 AM, in St. Peter the Apostle Church on Wilmington Island. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, request that remembrances be made in his memory to the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer and Research Pavilion Survivorship Fund, 225 Candler Dr., Savannah, GA 31405 or the Mount St. Mary's Needy Seminarian Fund, 16300 Old Emmitsburg Rd., Emmitsburg, MD 21727. I am praying for your comfort, and to feel God's presence at this overwhelming time. Getting to know you two last May was a joy and a highlight, I will always remember us three enjoying the world's best gelato by the Pantheon. ''May the angels lead Dave to paradise, may the martyrs receive him and lead him to the holy city Jerusalem. May choirs of angels receive Dave and with Lazarus, once poor, may he have eternal rest.'' Sending my love.

So sorry to hear this. I traveled to Poland with Sheila and David and they were really a sweet couple. I enjoyed their company and his info about Auschwitz while we toured. God Bless you, Sheila, and I'm praying for you to have peace.

David Lowe worked tirelessly and effectively for the benefit of children and their families. He generously shared his expertise with all of us in the child support community so that thousands of children could receive the financial support they need and deserve.

He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered. My deepest condolences to his family.

May God's Peace and Mercy be with the Family. I had no idea that saying goodbye to him on Wednesday, August 10th was really the last goodbye we would share. He lived and breathed Child Support. This is not only a lost for your family but everyone at the office and all the children he fought so hard to get support for. He was faithful to the cause until the very end. Rest in God's Peace Mr. Lowe.
