David Mayo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 8, 2015.
David Earl Mayo passed away on September 6, 2015, after a sudden illness.

He was born to Harry and Lydia (Labi) Mayo on October 3, 1961, in Rome, Italy. He spent his first five years in Libya, and then his family moved to Chattahoochee, Florida, where he grew up with his younger sister, Nancy.

David graduated from Chattahoochee High School in 1979 and attended Florida State University, where he graduated with a degree in Accounting in 1983.

He began his accounting career in Georgia in 1986, and later moved to Grand Junction, Colorado, where he accepted a position at Unocal in Parachute. While in Grand Junction, he met the love of his life, Sheree (Salatino) Mayo, and they were married on February 1, 1992. David and Sheree were blessed with a son, Benjamin Mayo, in March of 1994. Family meant the world to David, and he loved Sheree and Ben dearly.

During his employment with Unocal, David held several positions in the accounting area. He transferred to California and Texas with Unocal, where he was employed for many years. He later held various positions, the most recent was with The Bayer Corporation.
In his spare time, David enjoyed playing golf, traveling, watching sports, and spending time with his family, his long-time friend, Darrel Gilbert, and his dog, Maya.

David is survived by his wife, Sheree; son, Benjamin, and sister, Nancy (George) Bramlette of Anderson, South Carolina. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Mary Louise and Sam Salatino of Grand Junction, Colorado; a niece, nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

David was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lydia and Harry Mayo.

A graveside service will be held at Grand Junction Orchard Mesa Cemetery on Friday, September 11, 2015, at 1:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Silverado Hospice, 4800 Sugar Grove Boulevard, Suite 390, Stafford, TX 77477 or Sugar Land Humane Society, 101 Gillingham Lane, Sugar Land, TX 77478.

It is with great sadness that I learned of David's passing. He was a co-worker and a special fried. Every conversation included his love for Sheree and Ben. May family and friends find peace in their memories and faith at this time.
