David McGatlin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 10, 2025.
Dave Warner McGatlin, 66, passed away on October 22, 2024, in Renton, Washington. Born on May 20, 1958, in Kansas City, MO. Dave lived a life rooted in the Pacific Northwest and the great outdoors he loved deeply. His ashes were spread near Lake Quinault where he could be free in life and in death.

A skilled machinist by trade and a proud gunsmith by passion. He spent many years guiding big game hunts across rugged terrain-pursuing elk, deer, and his favorite: black bear. His knowledge of the wilderness was vast, earned through countless days spent tracking game and navigating the backcountry.

Dave found joy in hunting and fishing, often combining both with his other great passions: riding through remote trails and immersing himself in computer gaming during quieter moments. Dave embraced adventure in all its forms.

Those who knew Dave will remember him as someone who never met a stranger. His laugh-loud, easy, and infectious-could light up any room or echo through forested hillsides. He was a natural storyteller with a deep well of tales drawn from years spent in the woods. Sharing those stories brought him as much joy as living them.

Dave leaves behind his daughter Holly (Matt), granddaughter Olive, siblings, nieces, and a legacy of camaraderie, craftsmanship, and wild-hearted spirit. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and inspiration to those who share his love for nature's untamed beauty.
