David Moses

David Owen Moses, age 80, a long time resident of Epping Forest, passed peacefully on November 15th, 2024, surrounded by family. He was a loving father, brother and dear friend to many. David was born on Sept 17th,1944 to Byron and Virginia Moses. Although he was born in Chicago he grew up in Michigan (until he was 9), and then moved to Wallingford, PA where he remained until he graduated from Nether Providence High School. When David was 14 he suffered a serious diving accident which left him with a steel plate in his knee and ended his hope for High School sports. He was gifted a guitar, which began his love of music. He rarely put it down, his talent blossomed and he was able to create a band "The Four Dimensions " that would help put him through 4 years of college at Penn State University.

After obtaining his undergraduate degree he began his graduate studies in Urban Planning at the University of Michigan. Unfortunately this was interrupted by the draft and so he went to "OCS" Officer Candidate School In Rhode Island. He was then assigned to the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, beginning his love of sailing and big boat racing on Lake Michigan and the Southern Ocean Racing circuit. After his tour, he did return to U of Michigan and completed a second masters in Public Policy. Staying in Ann Arbor, doing research, and crewing for a few years before accepting a job at the Department of Energy in Washington DC.

His career at the DOE was analyzing the intersection of energy, environment and economics. Working in Washington allowed him to find a perfect house near the water in Annapolis MD. He bought a house in Epping Forest and a 36' sloop "Synergy" and sailed the waters of the Chesapeake for 40 years. He served as commodore of Epping Forest for 25 years. During this time he married Lauren McKee , although the marriage did not last, in 2000 they welcomed a wonderful son, Charles Byron Moses.

David retired in 2007 from DOE to spend more time with his son, woodworking, sailing and enjoying his newly built house in Kueka, NY.

Throughout his life David was a committed and devoted father, brother and friend. His family will always cherish memories of his jokes, his love of music, his kindness and thoughtful guidance. David loved his friends, family, woodworking, sailing, music, laughter and beer. He really enjoyed his life.

He is survived by his son Charles of Crofton, MD and sister Janet Seedor of Media, PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Lasting Tributes Cremation and Funeral Care on Dec 15th @12 noon. Visitation from 11-12

Anyone wishing to say their "goodbyes" is encouraged to do so at the service.
