David N. Timmons Obituary

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Timmons Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of David N. Timmons Jr.
US Army Specialist. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. The NC Run for the Fallen will honor fallen troops from North Carolina at a Memorial Run on Saturday, May 29th, 8:30am, Ayden Grifton High School track, Hwy 11 S. Ayden NC. wow... I know it's been 3 years. I just read the latest entry from this.... I still haven't forgotten about him. I still think about him. I still pray and wish that the army still made a mistake. I know it's a long shot but I still wish everyday that this was all a dream. There is not a day where I don't think of you and the times we shared. I still would give anything for this all to be a dream.

My deepest condolences to the Nelson, family we shared brilliant memories,let us just be thankful that we knew a very special gentleman like David.

I also served with david, now three years later I still remember my friend's delightful personality, and how the girls wouldn't stop talking about his smile. He is and always will be dearly missed.

I never quite had the chance to say goodbye, because I missed his call before he deployed. David was one of my dearest friends while I was stationed at Fort Drum, NY. I miss him very much. He always had a way of making me smile when I was feeling down. I know that he is in a better place. Love you always, your "Freedom Girl"

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Although I never had the privilege to meet David, Shalanta you are our (TRT) little sister. And your family is our family. We know how much you all miss him and we miss him as well! You all continue to be in our prayers.

David was my oldest and only brother that I had. I was the first one to get the news that " Jay" was dead. I was very shocked because I figure, no it could not have been my brother. I miss him dearly. I aftering reading everyones entry in this guest book, just lets me know he live his life the fullest and cared about everybody he met. I appriecate all the prayers that have been for my family and I. Even though its been six months it feels like it happpen yesterday all over again.

We were terribly shocked to learn of JR's passing. He and my boys, Kevin and Henry "H" Austin grew up together on Cloister Drive. He was one of the nicest boys I know. He'd make any parent proud. He was always so polite. He and "Lannie" visited us often. He will be deeply missed. I can't begin to imagine the pain you must feel right now. It hurts me when I think about him.

I know he is with God our Father now and all is well with his soul. I feel blessed to have known him.

i really dont know what to say. i went to basic training with timmons in kentucky. then stationed in louisana together for the 3 days before shippin up to NY. Timmons was a great platoon mate...friend...and i have missed him since i left the army. best of wishes to you and sorry for your loss...

I know I may be a little late in signing the guest book...but from the bottom of my heart I am sorry about your loss. I use to work with David at Chuck E Cheese my twin brother also worked with us. David always knew how to put a smile on our faces and we had alot of good times. When my twin brother called me and told me about what happened.. I could not believe it and I was shocked. I pray that God will bless you and your family.

Dear Timmons family, my heart and prayers continue to be there for your family. My son, Taner Edens, was buddies with David, being in the same platoon. Taner was able to escort the bodies home, feeling this was the least he could do for his fellow soldiers to see that they got back home to their families and to try to provide himself with some closure with these friends. I hope this finds you realizing how treasured your sons friendship was to my son. I would like you to contact me at my e-mail address if you would please. Timmons was a good friend to my husband and many other soldiers in our unit. God Bless him and his family.

David was my son's roommate (shawn passman). I met David in my home just before they left for Ft. Drum. David told one of my neighbors that he would watch after Shawn for us. I know that David kept his word. He seemed to be a very good man and loved being a "scout". The day Shawn called me and told me the news he said that losing David was like losing a family member. Our Sunday School class has been praying for your family. May God give you the strength to face each day. We will continue to pray for you.

I would like to extend my deepest condolences for the family. I went to the bank to pay a bill and my friend that works at the bank told me that David died. I was shocked I went home and looked in my yearbook because I went to Hanes Middle School with him. I just cant believe he is gone. But he is truly in a better place.

I can remember David stopping me in the halls of West Forsyth and saying "Dionne! did you do your homework?" I'd say, Oh!MAN! What homework? (lol) I only have good memories about him. He was so sweet and always had a smile on his face. I will continue to pray for the family. He was truly an awesome friend and he will be greatly missed!

I am sorry to hear about David. He was one of the nicest guys I knew in high school. Every day I saw him he would bring a smile to my face. When I had rough days he would make me laugh and he was always there for me. The last time I saw him was about 3 years ago before I moved and he met my husband who is also in the Army. When I found out about his death I was in total shock. Because not only did I not know he joined but I too have a loved one in the Army and Army life is very hard. But I know David served his country proudly and he is truly a HERO in my book. David, I will miss you and remember we still have soldiers fighting for you and others who have died and I will see you in heaven one day!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am yet another person signing the guestbook of someone I did not know, however I do remember what the emotions can be like at times of uncertainty. I am the wife of a Marine who served in Iraq at the start of the war and the sister of a National Guardsman who also served in Iraq. I am deeply saddened by your familys loss. To the Timmons Family,Sorry to hear of your loss,when I met David Jr.He was a very quiet and Polite young man with good parents to steer him in the right direction.He was a hero in wanting to fight for his country and God has prepared a beautiful place for him in his kingdom for he only knows best and he done his job here on earth and it was a job well done,Im sure he did not suffer for our father was not going to let him,and to let the family know we are only here on loan and God was just ready for his son to be Home. You do not know me but . . . I wanted to tell you how terribly sorry I am for your loss. My son just got back from Iraq in February and had lost his roommate of a year 10 days before coming home.



I am so PROUD of David . . . his sense of duty . . . his courage . . . his committment . . . his love for this country. I did not know him personally but . . . I do believe he was a TRUE MAN OF CHARACTER. We may have PYSCIALLY lost a hero, but . . . . he will live on and on in the memories of those who loved him, those who knew him, and . . . those who heard about how he gave his life so that the rest of us could have a better and safer life here in the UNITED STATES.



God give you the peace that surpasses all understanding and I pray it will get you through until that GLORIOUS day when you will be re-united with your wonderful son. I know when he found himself in the presence of the Father, he heard . . . "I am so very pleased my faithful servant". God bless bless you all and thank you, Lord, for the gift of David Nelson Timmons, Jr. For the short while he was on this earth, he made a DIFFERENCE . . . . HIS FOOTPRINTS WILL NEVER BE ERASED!! You dont know me and i did not know your son but i wanted to express to you what a wonderful son i know he was and how grateful i am that we have young men willing to fight for their country and for people like me who can say we are free because of the sacrifices of someone like your son.I know words cannot heal the pain you are going thru but i wanted you to know that there are those who are grateful for your son and wanted to give him honor.

I knew David from high school,he was always a very friendly person.I am so very sorry about your lost.In the LORD no one and nothing is ever lost. For GOD and GOD alone is the GOD of the lost and found. Please try to be encouraged, I know its not easy but with god you can make it.

Although I did not know your son, I know that you are proud of his accomplishments and his service to our country. May God give you peace and comfort during this time of sorrow.

To David's family......from the deepest of my heart I am deeply saddened by the passing of David. My son, Taner Edens, is a member of David's platoon, and he had accompanied David(and the other nine soldiers) back to the states, from Afghanistan. Taner told us he shared alot of time with David and hung out with him alot. I cannot imagine your pain...just to know I almost lost Taner...I just cannot imagine what you must feel. Please know my heart is deeply stirred, and my prayer to you is that the Lord will give you all great comfort, and peace which surpasses all understanding. May the Lord sustain you and grant you all, abundant blessings. God Bless each and everyone of you!

Dave was one of the first people I knew at Fort Drum. He was always warm and welcoming and never unhappy. I'm glad I had the opportunity to share happy times with such a great person.



Dave you are an excellent friend! I still hear your voice and you will continue to live on. Your life was precious on earth but God had plans beyond what we could understand.

To the Timmons family. I am a mother of a soldier of the 10th mountain division in afghanistan too. When I heard the news of the chopper I was so scared. I new my son was there. He finally called and said he is ok, but its hard mom, this is hard. I wish I could say something that would take away some of your pain. I'll be thinking about you and your family. Your son will never be forgotten.

I wish I could know something about David, and the person who is behind this very personal legacy. It is so important that we can let you know how much we care about David's sacrifice, but we also know that David as a person lighted so many different places, and touched so many different people. We have our own experience with our son Benjamin C. Schuster, killed Ramadi Iraq on February 25, 2006. We were upheld by the outpouring of love and support from strangers as well as military and friends. David matters to so many of us, and will continue to do so, long after you feel his name has left the news. We will always value all he has given for what he believed in, and hope for comfort and love for the family he has left temporarily left behind.
