David Pascucci Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 12, 2018.
ORANGE, CT – Devoted family man and friend, award-winning chef, and food truck entrepreneur David Robert Pascucci, 56, of Orange, Connecticut, passed away unexpectedly Monday, Jan. 8, 2018.

Son of the late Robert J. and Suzanne (Hayes) Pascucci of Northampton, Massachusetts, David was born Dec. 7, 1961, and graduated from Northampton High School in 1979. David turned his passion for cooking into a career after graduating from New England Culinary Institute in Montpellier, Vermont, in 1998. He trained in French culinary techniques and honed his skills at fine French restaurants including Restaurant Jean Louie in Greenwich, Connecticut, but he chose to work as a chef in hospitals and senior living centers for much of his career because it enabled him to spend weekends and evenings with his family.

His most recent adventure was achieving his goal of being his own boss and operating a food truck business with the creation of Dave's Traveling Gourmet in 2016. His children were often his support staff on the food truck and honed their culinary skills under David's guidance.

He is survived by his wife Jennifer, sons Jake and Sam, sister Amy Gleason, brother-in-law Charles Gleason, brother Tom Pascucci, sister-in-law Cheryl Pascucci, nieces Alexa and Adrienne Pascucci, and brother-in-law Alex Wang.

Calling hours will be at the Ahearn Funeral Home, 783 Bridge Road, Northampton, MA from 1–4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018. A Celebration of David's life will be at 4 p.m. Burial will be private.

Donations may be made in David's memory to the Connecticut Food Bank, 2 Research Parkway, Wallingford, CT 06492.

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Dave's passing. He brought professionalism and skills to our kitchen, always tempered with humor and a story or two about his boys. I am happy that he was able to pursue his dream of independence with his food truck. Rest in peace Chef! Prayers to Jennifer and Jake and Sam

Dear Jennifer and family. We were so saddened to hear of Dave's passing. We met him only a handful of times, but that did not diminish the impact he had on us. We are the staff/family of New England Brewing Co. He cooked for our customers, and he took good care of us- bringing in samples of his food for us to try all the time! He was amazingly talented and passionate about food. We are so sorry. We sent a donation to the CT Food bank so he can continue to feed people. We are happy to have met him and are sorry to lose him. -New England Brewing Co Team

I feel very lucky to have worked with Dave, however briefly, when we lived in CT. He epitomized, for me, how someone with talent and knowledge should treat others. He was so kind and deferential, and always made you feel valued. I'm forever grateful for his help in increasing my knowledge of both cooking and teaching. My heartfelt condolences to his family, about whom he always spoke with such happiness and pride.

Dear Pascucci Family, I had the pleasure of working with Dave at Chef's. He was always with a smile, laid back and spoke with joy of his family. I also had the extreme pleasure of working with him on his food truck when he first rolled it out! My heart is very heavy may you be at peace! May the memories you made, bring comfort.

We at Colonial Toyota are in disbelief over this news. Dave started parking his truck at Colonial a few years back. We all enjoyed his food, and Dave became friends with many of us. God Bless him and his family during this troubled time.

A neighbor, teammate, classmate and friend. Shared many rides to and from baseball practice and games with Dave. I smiled with a bit of envy reading about what he accomplished in his life. I have a fondness for cooking and it sounds like he pursued a passion. Rest in peace Pascuse!

We are still in shock over the news. We met "Chef Dave" when he started coming to Colonial Toyota to feed all of us. He always said hi to everyone and fit in like one of the family. He will be missed by all.
