David R. Potter

Bangor - David R. Potter, 67, of Bangor, ME, passed away on April 2, 2025, after a lengthy illness. Born April 28, 1957, in Quincy, MA, he was a devoted husband to Chloe Potter for over 20 years, and loving father to Phoebe Potter of Middleboro, MA. David was raised in Brockton, MA, and later resided in Middleboro, MA, Marion, VA, Leland, NC, and Calabash, NC. He was the son of the late Wallace H. Potter and Darlene K. (Schaffer) Marks, and stepson to the late Richard Marks and Pauline Potter.

David was hard-working and dedicated. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as an air traffic controller and spent several years working construction out of local 223 in Boston. During his years in construction, he worked on the "Big Dig" project as well as the development of the Zakim bridge. Even after retirement, David still enjoyed tinkering and fixing things, taking pride in helping a fellow neighbor or friend with his handyman skills. David was also deacon of his church and volunteered at a local soup kitchen to help feed the homeless. His love for animals (particularly dogs) and nature was something shared with his daughter, Phoebe, leaving a mark that will never fade.

David is survived by his beloved wife Chloe Potter; his daughter, Phoebe Potter; his sister Tanya Marks and her spouse Margie Hess of Fort Lauderdale, FL; his best friend, Larry Brown of Leland, NC; his sister, Sutanna (Susan) Chiapponi of West Palm Beach, FL; his brother Dale Potter of FL; his step-sister, Charlene, as well as many friends and extended family who will miss him dearly.
