Bobbie and family, I was very sad to hear of Davids passing. I read your message and everything you said of Dave was very true. Like you I also knew him for the 30 some years that he was in your life. There is nothing more I can say that you have not said. He was truly a wonderful man, good to everyone he knew and loved. He always had a hug and a kiss for me when he saw me no matter where we were. I will truly miss not seeing him in Mt. Washington. Please know that you and your loved ones are in my prayers.

Over 30 years ago you sat me down and asked me how I would feel if you became a part of my family. I remember saying I didn't care as long as you were good to us and you promised that you would be. You never broke that promise. You dried my tears through countless heartbreaks, and celebrated my accomplishments. You were a good husband, father, grandfather and friend. You taught me the important lessons in life, kindness, forgiveness, selflessness and unconditional love. I was lucky to have two fathers in my life. I was blessed that you were one of them and I am proud to call you Dad. I love you.

To My Godfather; "My Uncle Dave".I have reflected on your being there for each milestone in my life. My Baptism, my First Communion, my Confirmation, my Wedding. The countless times spent visiting with you, the many laughs and great times at your house in Mount Washington. When I was young and we moved to Pittsburgh, it seemed a little scary to me, but I was comforted by having you in my life. I wish that I would have taken that moment; to tell you how much you truly meant to me, how much I truly loved you and to thank you for being there for me along my journey as a Catholic girl.
My love, thoughts and prayers are with my family in Pittsburgh...My heart will never forget you Uncle Dave. I love you.

Bobbie and Family, I was saddened to read of David's passing and hope it is a comfort for you to know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. I always enjoyed David's conversations and his friendship. St. John Chrysostom said it best: "Those whom we love and lose are no longer where they were before. They are now wherever we are." May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. I will miss him, too. Peace, Love and Prayers ... Madonna A. Smith
