David Robertson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 19, 2024.
David William Robertson, aged 69, of Louisville, Kentucky, returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, August 16, 2024. He was born on October 20, 1954, in Richmond, Virginia to the late Arthur Mason Robertson and Mary Francis Riggan. He was a proud graduate of Bullitt Central High School, class of 1973. David dedicated 45 years of service to Rohm & Haas Chemicals before his retirement in 2021.

A man of faith, David was an active member of Ormsby Heights Baptist Church. His life was marked by a deep commitment to his community, evident in his role as Commander of the Louisville Sail & Power Squadron Boating Club. David's passions included boating, camping, family cookouts, vacationing at the beach and spending quality time with family and friends. Known for his knack for "piddling," he could often be found tinkering with various projects, always with a smile. David was the Jack of all trade's maker of it all. We always joked and called him "Bob Villa." He was always willing to help others and would never take money for any project. He would always joke and say, "I work for food". He was loved by so many. His positive outlook, generous spirit and kind heart left an impression wherever he went. He never met a stranger that didn't quickly become a friend, he always went out of his way to help anyone in need and had an incredible work ethic that will be forever remembered.

David was the Captain of our ship in real life and on the water. His knowledge and guidance were the foundation of his family. He had the gift of making everyone feel like family. He constantly made it a point to check on people and was always a source of positivity. Anyone who knew David knew family was the cornerstone of his life as he always put family first. He was a loving husband, father (Pops), papaw, brother, and best friend anyone could ask for.

David leaves to cherish his memory, the love of his life, Treasia Robertson of 24 years of marriage, and their children: Melissa Smith (Jamie "former"), Scotty Thomas (Angie), Geri McCarthy (Ron), Jodie Thomas (Mitchell), and David Robertson Jr. His legacy continues through his grandchildren Kyle, Kala, Jake (Madi), Logan, Brooke (Donovan), Gavin, Jason, great-grandchildren Carson, Carleigh, Carter, Connor, Orion, Stella, and was looking forward to meeting Avery Marie who is due in January, sister Lynn Harvey, brother Rick Robertson (Sandra), brother Ron Parrish (Kay), along with a host of nieces, nephews and other dear family and friends. David also leaves behind his fur babies, Murray and Angel. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jesse Harvey and Rusty Robertson.

The funeral service will be held at Ormsby Heights Baptist Church, 2120 Lowers Hunters Trace, Louisville, KY, on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be available on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 1-8 p.m. at Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, 4895 N. Preston Highway, Shepherdsville, KY 40165, and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. David will be laid to rest at Mt. Eden Cemetery, 6165 West Highway 44, Shepherdsville, KY 40165.

Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. David's warmth, wisdom, and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His infectious smile and laugh will live on forever. Rest in peace David as your light continues to shine brightly inspiring all who had the privilege of knowing you. Your legacy lives in countless lives you have touched with your kindness and love. We love you and miss you always!
